Increase in Pending Home Sales According to the latest statistics released by the National Association of Realtors, pending home sales increased in December 2008. More buyers and investors are buying because of the affordable prices and low interest rates. The biggest gains were in the South and Midwest. Some good news finally! According the National Association of Realtor’s Pending Home Sales Index, based on contracts signed in December 2008, the index rose 6.3 percent to 87.7 from an upwardly revised 82.5 in November, and is 2.1 percent higher overall than in December 2007, where it was 85.9.
