finlay park: 52 Saturdays - Week 23 - Finlay Park in Columbia, SC

Perhaps the best known and most iconic pictures that one can find of Columbia, SC these days are that of the fountain in Finlay Park. Well, it's currently shut off for repairs so I didn't take any. The truth is that the rest of the park still has a lot to offer though. Originally dedicated in 1859 as Sidney Park, the 14 green space was mostly neglected following the Civil War. However, in 1992 the park received new life and was rededicated as Finlay Park, named after Kirkman Finlay a former Columbia, SC mayor who had a large part in revitalizing … (6 comments)
