Spring hasn't even sprung yet, but San Antonio real estate is already starting to heat up. With a staggering 24% increase in the total number of homes sold in January, along with average and median home prices also on the rise, the time is now for both buyers and sellers to make a move. Mortgages continue to be affordable and buyers are beginning to take advantage, while sellers are seeing healthy gains in the values of their homes. For the second month in a row, the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) is reporting that that home sales and housing starts are up. Home prices are also stabilizing or heading up in most markets. Though some areas are still down, "the declines aren't that great." Combined with a positive jobs picture and other signs the economy is improving, NAR Chief Economis Lawrence Yun is "upbeat" about the coming year.
