Phoenix, Scottsdale metro area is beautiful and in the center of the state but is an inexpensive place to live. Nationally, "Phoenix's 93.6 composite score is dwarfed by cities such as New York, the nation's most expensive, with a 223.7 composite index, and by Honolulu, the nation's second-priciest venue, with a score of 190.4" as reported by the Arizona Republic and Laurie Merrill on June 19, 2015.
