atlanta: MARTA, Atlanta Heavy Rail Commuter Service Looking to Expand Northward - 07/01/14 09:01 AM
When the enemy — in this case, big-city transit — seems intent on invading your neighborhood, you can bet the opposition will be out in force.
That’s how it started, at least, when MARTA held an information session on a potential rail expansion north on Ga. 400. About 100 local residents packed the meeting room at Dunwoody Community Church. It was standing room only.
Atlanta Forward: Transportation Agency is committed to the best routes Before the transit agency made its presentation, the locals, most of them older residents, streamed past maps that showed a potential route along the east side of … (0 comments)

atlanta: When is the right time to downsize? - 03/31/14 01:37 AM
As a Realtor serving the suburbs of North Atlanta, I am confronted on a weekly basis with questions from potential home sellers; "when is the right time to downsize?"  I never seem to have a firm or standard answer to that question so I pose it to many of you:
1. When the last of your kids has actually moved out (or at least you think they have)?
2. When the dog that has urinated all over the carpet has passed away?
3. When you have finally retired for good?
4. When your Grandchildren have learned to drive?
5. When all or … (3 comments)

So you’re planning on driving downtown for this weekend’s Final Four basketball games, fan festivities and free concerts. The best advice: Don’t. Take MARTA instead.

atlanta: What's Wrong With Sandy Springs, Georgia? - 02/08/13 05:49 AM
Not a damn thing in my humble opinion!  What's wrong with Sandy Springs, Georgia? Absolutely nothing!  I have lived in Sandy Springs for nearly 23 years and don't understand the reluctance some homebuyers have with moving into this city.  Sandy Springs has been one of the most, if not the most successful at a transition to cityhood.  Let me point out some of the great things about living here:
Sandy Springs is hands-down one of the most professionally run cities in the US. Sandy Springs has actually produced an enormous Tax Reserve Fund. More streets have been repaved and sidewalks poured … (0 comments)

atlanta: Safety Tips for Halloween Trick-of-Treating in Atlanta - 10/29/12 03:59 AM
The Better Business Bureau has issued safety instructions for Halloween Trick-or-Treating. Whether it’s the candy the little ghosts or goblins eat, the costumes they wear or road safety while they are out trick-or-treating, the BBB asks that parents and children take heed of the following advice.
Candy Safety:
Don’t eat candy until it has been inspected at home. Trick-or-treaters should eat a snack before heading out, so they won’t be tempted to nibble on treats that haven’t been inspected. Tell children not to accept—or eat—anything that isn’t commercially wrapped. Parents of very young children should remove any choking hazards such as … (0 comments)

School bells ring for Atlanta City, Gwinnett County, Douglas County, Henry County, Coweta County, and other Metro Atlanta schools today. Atlanta Public School Superintendent Erroll Davis says education starts on day one in APS schools. He says, “Gone are the days when the first day of school was an occasion for day-long greetings and get acquainted sessions. Everyone is expected to hit the ground running on the first day of classes.” He encourages all students to come to school prepared because “learning begins immediately.” Hundreds of APS students are returning to new schools this year as a result of the system’s … (0 comments)

atlanta: Do most home sellers want a sugar-coated Realtor response? - 05/29/12 08:00 AM
Atlanta Real Estate remains one of the most Aggressive-Buyer's-Market in the United States. A continuation of ever decreasing sale prices and expectations that every home needs to look like an HGTV Dream Home make for an interesting day with clients!
I am one of those rare breeds of Real Estate Agents. I still believe that most home sellers would like to receive completely honest feedback on their home as opposed to a sugar-coated Realtor response. Today your home needs to win the area Price War and the Beauty Pageant in order to get a contract! That stated, a home seller … (1 comments)

atlanta: Living in Atlanta during pollen season is no sneezing matter! - 04/08/11 06:50 AM

Living in Atlanta during pollen seasonis no coughing matter!  The area is known for it's rolling terrain, Azaleas, Dogwoods, Ornamental Cherry, Wisteria and manicured lawns. Homes along some of those famed streets; Habersham, Tuxedo, W. Paces, Spalding and Ashford-Dunwoody are breathtaking during this time of year. The Atlanta area doesn't boast bus loads of "leaf-peepers" but no other part of the country can compare to us during Spring.  Callaway Gardens, just south of Atlanta is the world's largest Azalea display during these pollen-ridden weeks, but what a fantastic sight to behold!
I recently read that there were other cities in the … (1 comments)
