ATLANTA —
Plans to extend the MARTA rail line up Georgia 400 into Alpharetta are causing some concern for Sandy Springs city leaders.
Currently the MARTA Red Line train stops at the North Springs station. Channel 2's Mike Petchenik has learned that MARTA wants to extend north into Alpharetta. It's where they want to put the tracks that isn't sitting well with some.
"Those that don't study history are doomed to repeat it," said Sandy Springs City Councilman John Paulson, referring to the decades-old discussion about extending train service up Georgia 400.

MARTA Expansion and GA400 Corridor:
For those of us who depend on a strong and thriving economy as well as continued population growth and manageable commutes to boost home sales in North Atlanta; last night's MARTA expansion plans presentation at the Alpharetta, Georgia Town Hall provided few concrete details.
Of the several hundred people in attendance, most seemed to have a faborable view of extending MARTA's Heavy Rail Alternative from the current and final Station at North Springs, to Windward Parkway.  Requested feedback primarily centered on the projected location of future stations and less on cost and projected ridership should the Heavy Rail proposal … (0 comments)
