The Anthem real estate market, as well as the weather, continued to cool off through the month of November. Home sales were down 16% versus October 2016, up 20% over November 2015.  In addtion. the inventory of homes on the market is at 3.06 month’s supply, continue to move in to a buyer's market. The price per square foot decreased 1% versus October 2016, and is up 4% year over year. The 15th Annual Anthem Holiday Classic Sprint Triathlon is back.  A reverse sprint triathlon that features a 400 m swim in the Anthem Community Center pool, a 12.4 mile (20 km) bike around Anthem, and 3.1 mile (5 k) run to finish up.  What a great way to ramp up the holidays.
 
Where: The Anthem Community Center
When: Saturday, Dec. 10th
Start Time: 9AM
 
There's a kid's race too, which includes a 200 m swim, 4.5 mile bike, and 1/2 mile run.

The 2016 AZ Merit scores increased for all Anthem area schools compared to 2015. The AZ Merit (Arizona's Measurement of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching) is given each spring to students in grades 3-12 and is designed to measure students aptitudes in math and language arts.  The scores for Anthem schools and the overall change from 2015 are listed below:

October stayed consistent with the overall market slow down in the Serenity Villas real estate market. The total number of homes sold remained the same as September, and is down by 67% from Oct. 2015 in The Villas.  The days on market for those homes that sold decreased dramatically from September but up 14% over last year.  There's one home on the market in The Villas at this time and the 12 month moving average price, $151,768 continues to edge up, 4% versus 2015, but is leveling off. The Anthem Country Club real estate market showed renewed life in October. The total number of homes sold in the Country Club bounced back, twice as much as September, but still 29% less than October 2015.  The average sale price decreased from September and was up only 1% year over year.  The 12 month moving average increased by 1% over September and is down 4% from last year.  Continuing the trend from last month, and the first time since the bottom of the market during the summer of 2011.  The price per square foot increased by 3% over September but remained … (2 comments)

Come celebrate the 5th Anniversary of Anthem's Veteran's Memorial.
 
The memorial is comprised of five pillars each representing the five branches of the U.S. military, Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard.  The apertures in each pillar are aligned to capture the suns rays on November 11th, 11:11am (Armistice Day), in order to illuminate The Great Seal of the United States.
The ceremony starts with a pancake breakfast sponsored by St. Rose Knights of Columbus at 8am followed by the official ceremony to begin at 10am.

The Scottsdale, AZ real estate market continued it's flattening trend in the month of October.  Sales activity was down again, 5% from September, and the average sale price of those homes that did sell was flat.  Year over year home sales were up 6%. The Daisy Mountain Veterans Parade was established in Anthem, AZ in 2005.  The parade has grown from a small neighborhood parade to one of the most prestigious patriotic parades anywhere.
