twitter: Tweet This - 2011 December Blogging Challenge: Day 17 - 12/24/11 05:32 PM
I have over 3,600 Twitter followers. It sounds like a lot, but I'd be the first to tell you that the level of communication is very, very low. Most of the fault lies with me; I have no strategy or system to consistently provide valuable information.
Twitter can be a great way to drive traffic to your blog or IDX solution. It's an easy way to share quick insights, quips, or photos -- right from your phone. It can be an especially powerful tool for breaking news or to draw attention to a worthy cause. And you can also use Twitter … (1 comments)

twitter: Twitter Tips From Turtles - 07/02/11 07:32 AM
Remember about a month ago when a cobra escaped from the Bronx Zoo? Someone created a Twitter account (BronxZoosCobra) and quickly gathered over 200,000 followers to read about the cobra's NYC adventures.
Earlier this week a group of turtles made their way from a beach on Jamaica Bay to the nearby Runway 4 at JFK International Airport spawning a new Twitter account, @JFKTurtles. Here are some excerpts:

Besides being entertaining, @JFKTurtles garnered attention from major media outlets -- and Attention is the first part of the AIDA marketing model (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action). Sure, the turtles account may not monetize … (9 comments)

twitter: Twitter Terms of Service - "You Own Your Content" - 10/22/10 09:48 AM
A recent featured Members Only post on ActiveRain created a bit of an uproar when it asserted that Twitter could sell and profit from photos uploaded by members, and that members would be unable to claim the content as their own. The post quoted portions of Twitter's Terms of Service, but left out the immediately preceding sentence which reads:
You retain your rights to any Content you submit, post or display on or through the Services.

Here's a screenshot from Twitter's Terms of Service:

Notice the portions I've underlined in red. "You retain your rights ... But what's … (4 comments)

twitter: Twit-Olympics - Follow Your Favorite Olympians on Twitter! - 02/15/10 05:24 PM
Every Olympics brings with it an intense and elite level of competition that is only surpassed by the compelling personal stories of the athletes. I remember about thirty years ago when ABC created their "Up Close and Personal" profiles that were often so inspiring and uplifting.
With so much coverage available on television, the web, and through social media, the connections we feel with our favorite athletes are at their strongest. We hold our breath that they'll hit the landing, feel the disappointment when they fall, and share the pride when their anthem plays.
Canadian Rainer Liz Moras offers some great recaps of … (3 comments)

With this review, fellow social media enthusiast Jason Crouch has inspired me to add Twitterville to my reading list for February. As we build our online marketing plan, it's important to remember that social media can be a very effective listening tool as well as a means of getting our message out. In his post, Ian Greenleigh shares how Twitter can be used to research and listen for specific keywords.

It sounds like an odd thing to say, but in a way, Twitter is a lot like real estate itself in two ways:

twitter: Twitter Stats And Demographics - 08/29/09 08:49 AM
A research report released earlier this summer by Sysomos Inc. has some fascinating insights on Twitter. Most impressive to me is the "hockey stick-like growth" of this microblogging platform in 2009. According to the report "72.5% of all users joined during the first five months of 2009."
An In-Depth Look Inside The Twitter World contains valuable statistical and demographic information. By understanding how, when and why people are using Twitter, you can fine-tune your content to make it more effective.

To answer those questions and more, here's a strategic approach from a marketing and public relations slant by Paul Roetzer at PR20/20 -- Twitter Strategy: The Incomplete Guide for Beginners.

twitter: Promote Your Listings On Twitter With TweetLister - 08/16/09 10:45 AM
When it comes to promoting your listings on Twitter, 140 characters can be a little constraining. One solution is to post a link to your blog or website where users can find additional details about the listing. Another option is TweetLister, a free tool that lets you post listings, schedule tweets, track clicks and generate leads.
Here's a screenshot from an actual listing on TweetLister. There is plenty of room for photos and property details, plus links to a map, mortgage calculator, school info, and the Walk Score™. Below this (not shown in my image) are links to more photos, a virtual tour, … (15 comments)

twitter: Twitter Outside The Box - 08/15/09 03:46 PM
What are you doing? If you're new to Twitter and take this question quite literally, it can be hard to see the value in this 140-character microblogging platform.
"I'm eating a sandwich," you might say, "then I'm going to cut the lawn." Why would anyone care about such minutiae? My advice: Forget about the literal boundaries of the Twitter textbox. Anything and everything that you can say in 140 characters or less is fair game.
Have a witty observation? Let's hear it. Just wrote a great post about buying a home? Give us a teaser and a link to your blog. Want to show … (11 comments)

"What are you lookin' at?" That's the question that greets users of Twitgoo, one of eight photo and video tools profiled by Lara Kulp on TwiTip.
It's great to see utilities that help Twitter move beyond the boundaries of the 140-character Tweet. One application that looks especially promising is TweetPhoto, which "offers a lot of the advanced options you might enjoy for free: Stats, geo-tagging, favoriting/retweeting, etc."
