bird migrations: Unpredictable Predictions In Shell Knob - 11/18/12 04:06 AM
Midway through November in SW Missouri and we're still waiting for our first frost.... but am not complaining.
I have not seen the usual duck migrations, nor have our normal 'winter' birds arrived.  Guess they know better than the professional weather prognostigators, when it is time to move south.  In other words, it's been a very mild Fall.
However, I was happy to see our usual pair of Bald Eagles back and fishing on my shoreline yesterday.
 
The Missouri Department of Conservation publishes a great Natural Events calendar each year, which gives guidelines for when to anticipate the last frost, … (2 comments)
