fishing: TIME TO FISH TABLE ROCK - 03/02/09 06:44 AM
If it's March, can Fishing Tournaments be far behind?
My Missouri Conservation calendar shows White Bass beginning their spawn March 21, and that is the date Galena's Park Board will be hosting its 2nd Annual White Bass Tournament. Local word of mouth has muskies spawning and on the move. That may be why I noticed so many boats on the Kings River near Golden.

Fireworks for the 4th of July will be the recipient of funds raised by a $30 entry fee for a two person team. There will be a 1st place prize of $300. - 2nd place prize … (0 comments)

fishing: FISH BITE ON TABLE ROCK LAKE - 05/15/08 07:36 AM
Fish are still biting around Shell Knob, despite the fluctuating water levels with the spring flooding, reports Dennis Hamer.  Table Rock Lake temperatures are in the low 60's.

Hamer says the Black bass and White bass fishing is still pretty good.  Most of the fish are being caught in the 12 - 20 ft range on pea gravel banks near spawning areas.
The   bass are staging to spawn on the points.  It would be wise to work both sides of the points before going into coves.

Table Rock is still high at 929' and is not expected … (2 comments)

fishing: BASS BOATS ARE FLYING AROUND SHELL KNOB - 04/17/08 08:58 AM
FLOODS AND FISHINGRecent heavy rains and floods have kept spring fishing at bay on Table Rock Lake, Shell Knob, MO  Nothing can keep a fisherman's spirit down when spring spawn is on however, and the bass boats are literally flying by as I write.

One of the biggest problems for anglers since the flooding is getting to the dock without having to swim out to  their boats.  The lake rose higher than most docks were set for.  So the docks are surrounded by water.  Many marinas transport their clients to the dock via a smaller craft.

We've had two nice days in … (0 comments)

fishing: SHELL KNOB FISHING REPORT JULY 28 - 07/28/07 07:43 AM
 FISH ARE BITING
Table Rock Lake has remained stable for several weeks at 916'.  Surface temperatures are staying in the mid to upper 80's, which produces consistent  fishing patterns.According to Shell Knob's resident fishing expert and author, Tom Koob, bass can be caught shallow at medium depths and deep, using crankbaits and spinnerbaits on transition areas and bluff ends.Catfish remain good on live and natural baits.  Walleye are being taken on deep crankbaits and live nightcrawlers.  Bluegill remain good on any shoreline using live baits or popper bugs.

fishing: EVEN FISHING NEEDS DOWNLOADS - 03/19/07 03:46 PM
GRAB YOUR LAPTOP AND FISHING POLE

This comes from the Missouri Department of Conservation, and I have to question if they are giving the fish miniature aquatic laptops?   Doesn't seem like the fish will have a chance now.

"Anglers across Missouri are lining the lake shores once again for spring fishing. Now there's a new way to find out where the fish are biting.      The Missouri Department of Conservation has a new online, interactive map of several regional lakes.  They pin-point these "fish-attracting" habitats that are sure to give anglers a better chance of catching "the big one".      A lot of … (0 comments)

fishing: THE SECRET TIME TO SHOP BRANSON, MISSOURI - 02/14/07 08:24 AM
OFF SEASON IS GOOD TRAVEL SEASON IF YOU LEARN THE EASY ROUTES TO TAKE
Since moving to Shell Knob from a large metropolitan area, I have become allergic to traffic.  My favorite time of year is from October through April, because that is when only full-time residents are around.  There is no waiting in line anywhere, whether that is for groceries, gas or the post office.
This is also the best time to go to Branson for shopping or restaurants.  And Branson is a GREAT place for both, with discount malls, specialty shops. etc and more opening everyday.  There are two main ways … (0 comments)
