In times past, persons wanting to build a summer cottage on Table Rock Lake, would sink a 50 gallon oil drum in a hole in the ground, and call that their septic system. This obviously turned into a problem as leaching from the barrel could contaminate their well water, or drain into the lake. That has all changed.
