Well folks, I am constantly reminded how smart I am not... I just spent forty five minutes trying to make a picture of a flier for a class I am teaching and get it ready to put on my blog. I succeeded at that but totally failed at figuring out how to also say something personal about it... I definitely am a little rusty at this... which is a funny thing to say considering I've only really been contributing on ActiveRain for 5 months. Yesterday someone asked me why, as a stager, I thought it would be important to clients or real estate agents that I understood green. It is funny, their question made me step back and I realized that the question never occurred to me because I just thought folks would automatically see the benefit. Late last year San Francisco's fabulous California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park received a Platinum LEED certification and now is considered to be the greenest museum in the world. It is a truly remarkable place. I was just watching the Early Show and they are interviewing kids about what first things they think Obama should do in the White House. It was adorable - the usual "take his daughters to a water park" and "put in some bean bag chairs in front of a TV and sit down and watch TV" kid stuff. But one said: "Plant a vegetable garden" so that they would be "healthy". Another said "Clean up the environment". I love this! From the mouths of babes and all that.... Yesterday afternoon I went to an open house in Berkeley, CA where they were doing a seminar on cohousing. The Architect/Builderspoke first and you could really see his passion for the project, which is a two home/condo structure in West Berkeley with communal entrance and courtyard. Most of you who know about cohousing might say - only two? But that is all he could get zoning for and so did what he could within the parameters he was given.
