   More new home builders are including energy saving features in their homes according to a study from The National Association of Home Builders.  Energy Star appliances, energy efficient windows, compact fluorescents and programmable thermostats are among the features being offered.  Some big home builders are even offering solar panels as an upgrade for several thousand dollars.  This all adds up to long term savings.  
On a median per square footage basis, all home owners spent 78 cents per square foot per year on electricity compared with new home owners who had that down to 65 cents per square foot.
