March is the beginning of spring here in Ocala Florida. The temperatures during the day are up in the hogh 70's or even low 80's. The air is dry with no humidity. The night time temps go down to the 50's. Lawns that were brown and dormant from the winter start to turn green and the azaleas start to bloom. Let me begin by recapping the weather for the month of January. It was crazy cold last month with some days as much as 20 degrees below normal. High temperatures in January are supposed to be in the low 70's. This year temperatures were in the 50's and 60's most of the time. I had people who have lived in Ocala their entire lives tell me this is one of the coldest winters that they can remember. Hopefully February will bring more seasonal temperatues back. First let me recap the weather here in Ocala Florida during December. December weather in Ocala was unusually warm. The average temperature in December is 72 and half of the days approached 80 degrees. If you remember November was unusually cold with temperatures struggling to reach the ow 70's. The weather in Ocala Florida during December is warm and dry. The occasional cold front comes through and brings welcome rain and cooler temperatures and then we go back to warm and dry. Temperatures during the days are in the 70's and in the evenings they go down to the 50's. Looking back to November, it was unusually cold by Ocala standards. This is my monthly weather report for November, here in Ocala Florida. November in Ocala is a fall month but instead of apples we have citrus trees baring fruit, like my lemon tree pictured here. November is a great month weather wise in Ocala. Temperatures are in the 70's during the day, sometimes reaching 80 on a warm afternoon. During the night temps can drop to the 50's. Here in Ocala Florida we really do look forward to winter. Today is October 13, the beginning of the dry season. Hurricane season ends in late October and the dry season begins about the same time. The dry season will last until mid May with low humidity and not much rain. Winter in Ocala means that it will be in the high 60's to mid 70's during the day and in the 40's or 50's at night. We occasionally get a light frost. If you don't look forward to winter you should just pick up and move to Ocala.

September weather here in Ocala, like all of Florida, is the peak of hurricane season. Hurricane season lasts from June until the end of October but mid August to early October is really where all the action is. Ocala is one of the least hurricane likely places to live in Florida. I've been really busy and I'm only getting around to doing my monthly weather report now on August 23rd. It's been a very wet rainy summer. For the past couple of years we have been in drought condition. We we've returned to normal with a vengeance. It seems like it rained every afternoon for the entire month! Well the weather here in July is hot and humid, as it should be in Florida, in the summer time. This year we have returned to a more normal rainy summer. The past couple of years have been too dry causing a drought. This year we've returned to normal. By normal I mean a gully washer thunderstorm most afternoons. This is a good thing. Early March has been kind of cool here in Ocala. by that I mean just barely 70 some days and it was in the mid 30's at night a couple of times. That's cool for March in Ocala. As you probably know I don't predict the weather I just give people from other areas an idea of what Ocala weather is like from month to month. January is one of our coldest months. The purpose of my monthly weather reports isn't to predict the weather. I just try to give people from other parts of the country an idea of what Ocala's weather is line from one month to the next. The weather is cooling down and all the humidity has gone. People from up north seem to think it's always humid here in Florida. Well October isn't exactly fall here in Ocala Florida. We do however begin to cool down. The day time temperatures are now in the mid 80's and the nights in the 60's. Later in the month we can leave our doors and windows open for fresh air and to escape the cost of running the central air. This is for all those people up there in the Great White North waiting for spring. The only help that I can offer is MOVE to OCALA FLORIDA !! As I sit here writing my blog in my shorts and bare feet it's 86 degrees. Now that is unseasonably warm for this time of year but who cares. It sure beats the hell out of snow and ice.
