A"PRE HUD" "Mobilehome"
& a "HUD" "MANUFACTURED HOME"

"MOBILEHOMES" were built before June 15, 1976. For all intent and purpose they were a slight cut above their little brother the traditional "TRAVEL TRAILER".
A Mobilehome was wider. Usually between 10 and 12 feet wide compared to the legal trailering width of 8 feet allowed for autos and pick up trucks . It was longer. Usually longer than 40 feet.It came in multiple sections commonly referred to as a "SINGLEWIDE", "DOUBLEWIDE", "TRIPLEWIDE" or other. It was generally constructed with thin walled framing much like its little brother the "TRAVEL TRAILER". Typically 2x3 inch exterior walls and in many cases 2x2 inch … (51 comments)

Cherish Those Precious Moments. Life Is Not Always About Work.
During today's temultous and challenging times we often overlook the real reasons why we all work so hard to provide the comfort and joy for the ones we love.

Take the time to spend time with those who you love and cherish. Don't get so absorbed with your work that you let the years pass you buy only to wake up one day and realize that you never really got to know those things most endearing.
Having 5 children and 12 grandchildren can be an awesome and most rewarding challenge … (8 comments)

Are "Baby Boomers" Still Viable Candidates For Home Ownership? Or Will They Be Just As Happy To Become Renters? s
10,000 Baby Boomers will be hitting retirement age everyday for the next 15 to 20 years. Many if not most, and I am one of them, currently own large 3 to 5 bdm homes with big yards and lots of ongoing maintenance issues. They're now starting to downsize by the thousands. Anybody have a crystal ball? What do you think all these folks will do for housing for the rest of their lives? I've got my thought but I'd like to get … (3 comments)

Do You Think This Is A Scam?

I know this is far afield from standard “Blogging Protocol”, but I wanted to get the AR community’s feedback and opinions on this one.  I thought it rather suspicious and felt I should bring it to your attention.

These  Renter inquiries supposedly came from two different people within just a few days on a recent rental ad I posted on Craigslist.

FYI: House Fails to Vote on Extending Loan Limits This is a re-post from REALTOR MAG that I thought I'd pass along.
DAILY REAL ESTATE NEWS | MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2011 Conforming loan limits on government-backed mortgages at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac are set to expire on Oct. 1, because attempts to extend them haven't gain traction in Congress.
In 2008, Congress raised the limits up to $729,750 in some areas to make larger mortgages available in high-priced housing markets. The limits will drop to $625,500 on Oct. 1 in the many areas of the country, mostly affecting housing … (0 comments)

sellers: Why should underwater homeowners get a cramdown and those of us who are prudent borrowerers get the shaft? - 10/10/11 10:07 AM
Why should underwater homeowners get a cramdown and those of us who are prudent borrowerers get the shaft? I've had it with the notion that "BIG BROTHER" should force lenders to dole out "cramdowns" (principal write downs) to people that can't afford to make their payments while those of us that are struggling to be prudent about our obligations get the shaft. Once again I'm starting to hear the war drums beating in the distance. What's good for the goose is certainly good for the gander. Additionally, what's to keep good borrowers from going south on their loans if they see this … (2 comments)

Where Will The Jobs We Need To Grow Our Economy Come From?
I keep hearing our politico ranting about job creation being the #1 priority to refueling our so called "recovering economy" which seems like a reasonable and logical concern and goal. The only thing I'm having a problem understanding is just where all these jobs will be coming from and who's going to get them?
