The above infographic is a look at a Snapshot of Mortgages, Interest rates, FICO Scores, and Mortgage Credit Availability over the past couple of years since 2013.
You can see rates initially started fairly low in January of 2013, around 3.25%, but then rose fairly quickly throughout the course of 2013 to around 4.6%, then retracted a little in 2014, but were still nearly .75 of a point higher than at the beggining of 2013.  But as you can see, experts are projecting rates to rise to over 5% by the end of 2015.

According to the National Association of Realtors, existing-home sales rose in March, continuing an uneven recovery that began after home sales bottomed out last July.
Existing-home sales, which are completed transactions that include single-family homes, condominiums, townhomes, and co-ops increased a little over 3% in March compared to February, but are around 6% below the pace in March 2010.  Sales last year were at elevated levels due to the home buyer tax credit.

Exisitng Home sales have rising in the last 6 months, even with out the home buyer tax credits, The bargain basement prices are in most cases to good to pass up.  Another reason is that apartment rents have been increasing as well.  Also sales of home priced over a 1 Million or more are outpacing the sales of homes at lower price points.
