It's been a very long time since I've posted (or even logged on to AR), so I thought I would ease my way back onto ActiveRain with something fun.
Today is National HAT Day and it's also NFL playoff season. I was born and raised in Western PA, so my blood runs "Black and Gold" (life long Steeler fan). Trying to convince a parent/parents to move nearer to you or in with you proved to be more difficult than I ever dreamed. I’ve been at this task for at least a year now and I think I have finally made some progress. Unfortunately, it had to happen after my mom recently fell and broke her hip. Sure wish we could have avoided that fall. But I think this has made her realize she can’t live on her own anymore. I do understand how difficult it is for people to give up their independence. Weltanschauung, not just any word, but a word Rainer's practice!!
When starting this post I had to look up what "Weltanschauung" meant. "Welt" means "world" and "anschauung" means "perception". Next, I found the link to "Weltanschauung" on ActiveRain. In the address bar for Weltanschauung is: (http://activerain.com/culture/weltanschauung) and in the center is "culture"! "World, Perception, Culture" these three words gave me an instant feeling of security and belonging! Once again I have reassured myself that I'm in the right place! Our refrigerator, of seven years, decided to die without much warning. In the afternoon the freezer side didn't seem very cold, so I quickly moved everything to the big freezer in the garage. Couple hours later, the refrigerator side also decided to get warmer. After Cary and the boys did some testing, they decided it was the compressor and not worth having it fixed. Desktop Hoarder -- Help!!! It's the start of a new year (I'm a little late this year) and one of my resolutions was to declutter and simplify everything, starting with my home office area. First stop this morning was my computer, that's where I discovered I'm a "desktop hoarder"! I save everything in folders, neatly labled on my computer. My desktop is pretty full. I can see my kids cringing now as they start up my computer when I need some tech help. Seems I like to save everything there. The 2nd Annual ArtsFest is a fundraiser to help the Coconut Creek Multicultural Circle. The nonprofit organization was put in place to help unite the Coconut Creek community through celebrating customs and cultures. The FREE family friendly event will have live music, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu presentation, a Tango dance team, Hispanic book authors and a flutist from Peru. There will be 30 artists displaying and selling their photography, sculptures and paintings. The City of Coral Springs will be hosting its fourth annual Video Game Challenge for Coral Springs youth, ages 8 to 18 years old.

I never thought of a black cat as bad luck, but then again I never thought the number 13 was unlucky either. Probably because I was born on the 13th! Trying to catch the sunrise at Pompano Beach this morning! (trying is the key word) Every now and then you have to steal a little time to enjoy life. We ran out of the house this morning and rushed over to the beach. Obviously, we should check the weather before heading out! We didn't see the sunrise, but we did see some big storm clouds and rain out over the Atlantic.

We don't do this very often because of calories and distance from where we live but when we're in the Hollywood or Pembroke Pines area, we try to make a stop at Mojo Donuts.
