Today, six of the 17 Palo Alto luxury homes active on the market (not in escrow) have been listed than 30 days or less.  Two have been listed for less than 60 days.  The only home on the market for an extended period is the one short sale listed at $5,500,000.

The Orinda luxury home sales report for May 2013 reflects a generally steady market for luxury homes listed or sold above $1M, which represents the majority of the Orinda real estate market.
Four of the 16 homes that closed escrow in May were originally listed below $1,000,000 and received offers significantly higher.  One was listed at $899,000 and sold 18% above the asking price at $1,100,000.  But not all homes did that well – only 10 sold above listing price while five sold below and one sold even.
