five corners: The New Agent VS the dinosaur.... Does Tech Matter?
- 11/14/13 08:32 PM
Recently I read an article that rejected the idea that younger people can earn a living as real estate agents just because they are “tech savvy,” and that this somehow gives them an advantage that enables them to compete with more experienced agents.
The author went on to explain “I believe that there is plenty of business for agents young and old, and that we should encourage young people to join our profession. But we might be going about it all wrong.”
Did you know that 30 years ago in the 70’s I was using the internet?

five corners: What Pete The Referee Taught Me!
- 01/04/13 10:21 AM
A very good friend of mine is a professional referee and while Pete may know every call in the book his computer skills really remain to be seen.... as a favor he asked me the other day if I would mind scanning in some articles that he had clipped out of some referee magazines (who knew there was such a thing as a magazine about calling plays) and if I could then email this packet to him so he could share them with is ref friends around the country.
Heck thats the least I can do, and after all, a (2 comments)
five corners: Guess We Are Not Full of Hot Air Yikes...no more Helium Balloons :(
- 10/21/12 02:49 AM
Well so much for us being full of hot air... or in this case Helium.... You see He is believe it or not the #2 most abundant element found in the universe.... but yikes Im feeling deflated (yup this blog as all the bad puns). The reasons for (YOU HAVE NOT HEARD) the shortage are actually complex twined with the global energy business but the effects to you and me are simple: If you can get the He then expect to pay a lot more then what you paid last year and be glad you can find some....A tank last year (0 comments)

Greetings We are just about at the end of the half way mark for this year 2012.... I see so many agents getting that summer slump... Is that you? Yeah, you know, the Spring market has peaked...you closed a few deals... and thoughts of the July 4th holiday are around the corner... So with that, my little three words for today are "Make It Happen" Today, yes right now is the best time of the year to step up your game and position yourself for the 2nd half of this year.... Lee Iacocca once said "Apply yourself. Get all the (0 comments)

five corners: Be a part of your local community
- 05/29/12 10:24 PM
This past weekend our Real Living Five Corners office held a wonderful local event (see press release below) I have always said it is much better "advertising" to do a local event than run an ad in the paper.... Case in point... this event attracted several hundred local residents to drop bye and visit us, agents received several leads including a walk in listing not one but two properties. We received website recognition, newspaper coverage...event was covered by various radio and tv stations.... all in all a win win.... so the next time you want to generate some business... think about (0 comments)
But I think not... In fact I think what the real estate community has allowed by folks like Zillow, Trulia, etc... taking our "IP" Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind: inventions, literary and artistic works, and symbols, names, images, and designs used in commerce. and using it to build a business model that actually pours gas on the fire by selling it back to us or (0 comments)
five corners: Have you seen all the articles about Bidding Wars?
- 04/28/12 06:53 AM
Over the past few weeks I have been seeing more and more articles telling "Bidding Wars" are back! IMHO the perception being generated is false... yes the market is good (in fact very good) compared to what we have seen the past few years....but we are a far cry away from years ago when agents could just list a home for sale and see dozens of offers and write up the sale.
In fact it really is healthier to have a slow rise of pricing and the "bidding wars" we see are the result of homes that are good quality (3 comments)

five corners: Protect Your Listings!
- 03/13/12 10:43 AM
Craigslist Scamers - Using Google Alerts! What are Google Alerts? Google Alerts are emails sent to you when Google finds new results -- such as web pages, newspaper articles, or blogs -- that match your search term. This is such a worthy tip that I just had to share it with you to help protect your own listings! I don't know if you have heard about the "craigslist phenomenon" of scammers putting your listings on Craigslist in a post and advertising them for rent. Long story short, scammers have been setting up PO Boxes and advertising the place that is actually (1 comments)
