When it was first occupied by Sewee Indians, Isle of Palms was orignially called "Hunting Island" and then renamed "Long Island" in 1899 by Dr. Joseph Lawrence. James Sotille, a Charleston native, built a pavilian and amusement park that attracted large crowds escaping the summer heat in 1912. After a decline in popularity during the Depression, the island when through a revival from the 1950s to 1970s and the world began to notice this quaint coastal community.

Throwback to when my wife threw me a surprise party on my 30th birthday. She had 2 of my best friends from Deleware fly to Charleston the night before, so I was incredibly surprised when I walked into Westbrook Brewery and was given even more of a surprise! Such a great time with friends, family and delicious beer/food. =)

Coca-Cola Ham
Ingredients:
1 (4 -5 lb) bone-in ham 1 onion, peeled, cut in 1/2 1 (2-liter) bottle coca -cola For the Glaze:
1 handful cloves 1 heaping tablespoon molasses 2 teaspoons English mustard powder 2 tablespoons brown sugar Method:
Peel and cut 1 onion in half.  In a large pot, place ham and the onion and pour the 2 liter bottle of coca-cola over top. On a medium-high heat, allow to cola to come to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and … (0 comments)
