I wanted to post a #throwbackthursday to being in Heidelberg, Germany. My wife and I visited the castle on the hill which is over 600 years old and has a view that is to die for. Last Friday, we had our very first Business to Business event! In a nutshell, every Friday, we are spending time to learn about small businesses in Charleston straight from the owners. Our objective is to expand our network of resources, be more involved within the community and grow our preferred vendor list. #ThrowbackThursday to London in 2013- my wife and I were there for 4 days before traveling around Europe. It was a wonderful trip- typical London weather- it was March- cold, rainy and sunny. We rented a friends flat for 2 nights in Camberwell Green- the week was full of  exploring, being a typical tourist, sitting in old pubs that dated back almost 900 +, drinking great beer and eating delicious fish and chips. One of the most interesting lessons that I picked up on at Family Reunion this year was using laughing as a method of 'revving up' your day, so to speak. It sounds ridiculous, but Ben Kinney, KW agent in Bellingham, Washington,  had everyone in the audience force a hysterical laugh for about 30 seconds- by the end of the 30 seconds, everyone was genuinely laughing and the energy of the room completely shifted. Today's #throwback goes back to my surprise 30th birthday party held at Westbrook Brewery in Mount Pleasant, SC. After a day of golf and being told that we were going to a beer tasting before dinner, my wife surprised me and had friends fly in from out of state. Two of my best friends flew in a few days before, so I was even more surprised to discover that other friends flew in, as well. Great time had by all!

We all have our own daily habits, preferences and dislikes. There are millions of articles describing the 'perfect' way to begin each morning, but in my opinion, the most important thing is to give your mind a mental break doing whatever you find most peaceful. For me, I enjoy sitting on my porch while drinking my coffee and holding my daughter. I give myself time to sit and relax, mentally preparing myself for the day ahead. I also make a habit of exercising each morning- exercise completely relaxes me and energizes me, as well.

As I am getting more systemized and organized with my schedule and yearly plan, one improvement is that I have been more active and invloved within the community- I am trying to go to more networking events (happy hour, Chamber of Commerce meetings,etc) - LindedIN is an amazing resource that lists hundreds of events weekly in your area. Although it is difficult to find the time during the week to go to a networking event, doing just one or two per month truly does grow your sphere and makes a significant improvement on your business. What are your favorite/least favorite networking events?

The lender that I work with has began sending weekly economic advisor updates. One of his updates that stuck out to me in particular was about marketing to renters and first time buyers. Being a friend to local businesses is a mutually beneficial way to benefit both parties. I have a Buyer's packet and Prelisting packet that I bring to appointments- on these packets, I am working on building my preferred vendor lists. My end goal is to have a detailed list of vendors (from dentists to salons) that my clients can easily pull from and utilize. This is especially helpful for clients that move from other states and have no connections or idea where to go when they need something.
