tucson buyers agent: THEY SAY IT'S A DRY HEAT! - 06/20/13 09:21 AM

Well, at least at this time of year, they’re right. Right now it’s 1040 here in sunny Tucson.
The humidity is…2%
The dew point is…00
Can’t get much dryer than that.
Bright sun, no clouds. Admittedly it feels a smidge like the inside of an oven, not that I’ve ever been inside an oven. Except my car in the summer.
But, no floods, no torrential rains, no snow, no sleet, no iced windshields, no tornados and no hurricanes.
Yep, I’ll take our heat!

tucson buyers agent: Why Memorial Day? - 05/25/13 04:35 AM
WHY MEMORIAL DAY?
Shame on us if we have to ask!

Memorial Day, originally called Decoration Day, is a day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. I repeat. A day of remembrance for those who have died in our nation's service. Nothing else!
Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on 5 May 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic
To help re-educate and remind Americans of the true meaning of Memorial Day, the "National Moment of Remembrance" resolution was passed on Dec 2000 which asks that at 3 p.m. … (3 comments)

tucson buyers agent: HOW LOW CAN THEY GO? - 10/19/12 04:56 AM
HOW LOW CAN THEY GO?
Two really recent interest rate quotes, from local and really reputable lenders I use are very low. 3.375%, no points, and 3.125% no points. This is getting to the point that interest is almost a non factor with a loan. FICO scores, not so much. A very recent article says scores on closed loans averaged 750 points? Huh?
That means a LOT of decent buyers got shut out. Average rejected score…704 points.
Lower rates combined with seemingly unreasonably high FICO scores means lower sales.

tucson buyers agent: Today I Remember Rick Rescorla, a True Hero - 09/11/12 01:19 AM
A man named Rick Rescorla tried to tell people about such an impending attack after the truck bombing of the WTC. Long before 9/11 ever happened. He and some associates even volunteered to go to the Middle East and hunt down and kill UBL.
There was a documentary shown first on the History Channel called "The Man Who Predicted 9/11". You can Google that phrase and pull up a You Tube viewing of the show. Rescorla was a true hero on 9/11, saving thousands of Morgan Stanley associates. Rick died in the collapse of the South tower on his way back up, to … (5 comments)

Tucson Rodeo - La Fiesta de los Vaqueros

Arizona is a “Baby State” having been admitted to the Union in 1912, on February 14th, which is coincidentally why we’re known also as “The Valentine State”. We’re just 100 years young.
The Tucson rodeo is almost as old as the State itself, celebrating its 87th year. That’s pretty cool.
“TUCSON’S LA FIESTA DE LOS VAQUEROS BEGAN WITH A BANG”
Headline in the Arizona Daily Star in 1925 read:
“Cowboys are asked not to shoot up the town”. You won’t see that headline too often.
Tucson in 1925 was a … (2 comments)

The Arizona State Flower…The Saguaro Cactus Blossum

This is the actual flower.

tucson buyers agent: An Economic Indicator, at least for Tucson AZ - 01/27/12 03:25 AM
An economic indicator…
At least for Tucson AZ.
One way you can tell it’s much slower for newcomers moving here ( my main customer base) is to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles. I went yesterday to renew my driver’s license. I had not been there for 5 years. I expected the usual packed parking lot and long, long lines.
Here’s what I found. No full parking lot. No long lines. No out of state cars being inspected. Nothing. It was like I had entered the Twilight Zone.
I brought a book to read. Got through TWO pages before my … (5 comments)

tucson buyers agent: WE ALL REMEMBER 9/11 IN OUR OWN WAY. I REMEMBER RICK RESCORLA. - 09/09/11 07:24 AM
WE ALL REMEMBER 9/11 IN OUR OWN WAY. I REMEMBER RICK RESCORLA.
I have been thinking about writing this post for a while now. And I know we all knew where we were when we heard about the attacks. And wondered if we had friends or relatives in the planes or in the targets.
Later we wondered what to do, what we would or could have done.
Many questions. How were I or my loved ones going to be affected? Were we going to have a war? All sorts of thoughts.
And then, sadly, like most events, even this one, the … (5 comments)

tucson buyers agent: Life is a Journey, Not a Destination... - 07/29/11 03:10 PM
Deb's correct in her comment that mentions that a lot of the current leads "are shaky at best". The economic news headlines are as responsible for this as the actual economy. My suggestion is to not read the front page of the paper, where the publishers plant the "scary" and attention getting headlines, and don't listen to the first seven minutes of the news on TV.
Don't react to alarmist comments. If we could simply help buyers and sellers understand what is really going on out there, we'd be further ahead, as would all of the buyers and sellers.
During the … (0 comments)

LINDA RONSTADT, JIMMY CLIFF, COMMON DENOMINATOR?
Not a word of real estate to be found here. Well, except for what I just wrote of course, but still….
Now what on earth could those two musicians have in common, one might ask?
Everyone who likes classic rock, and more, knows Linda Ronstadt and her music. I have known about here since I was in my early 20’s. My younger brother went to school with her class here in Tucson. I’ve probably seen her more in person than any other performer. Partial to a local lady, obviously.
Some of her song covers are … (7 comments)

tucson buyers agent: ARIZONA FIRE UPDATE…Live from Tucson, AZ - 06/22/11 08:46 PM
ARIZONA FIRE UPDATE…Live from Tucson, AZ
Pretty good news overall.
RE the Wallow fire...The Wallow Fire burning in Eastern Arizona is now 58 percent contained by a crew of 3,389. Though the fire is now at 529,825 acres, only one of the fire's three "zones" is actively burning outside the perimeter. The other two zones are creeping and smoldering through unburned interior islands, according to incident officials.

RE the Horseshoe2 fire… amazing news on this fire. The Horseshoe 2 Fire is 95 percent contained as firefighters are on track to have the Horseshoe 2 Fire contained by today, the date originally … (6 comments)

tucson buyers agent: FIRE HERE, THERE, EVERYWHERE IT SEEMS. Live From Tucson AZ - 06/20/11 04:48 PM
FIRE HERE, THERE, EVERYWHERE IT SEEMS.
Things are usually bigger in Texas, or so they say, and since I lived there for 20 years (Houston) I can safely say that’s usually a pretty true statement.
But when it comes to the size of current fires, sadly, we here in Arizona win. And that’s not something to brag about, for sure.
Our three biggest fires around here in Southeast and Eastern Arizona are as follows…
The Wallow fire has consumed nearly 800 square miles of forest.
The Horseshoe 2 Fire burning near Portal has grown to 213,511 acres since the last update.

tucson buyers agent: FIRST TIME THIS YEAR AT 100 DEGREES! - 05/27/11 07:07 PM

FIRST TIME THIS YEAR AT 100 DEGREES!
For the next few months now we are going to pay for the eight to nine months of absolutely wonderful weather we experience in Tucson. Dry and sunny, and no weird weather like the folks in the, well, pretty much everywhere else gets.
You know…snow, sleet, rain, tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, all the good stuff we just don’t get here. And although we could feel deprived, we don’t. No umbrellas, no raincoats, no galoshes, no windshield scrapers, no de-icer.
Ah, well…

tucson buyers agent: Are CFL’s Completely Safe? - 05/27/11 02:34 PM
Are CFL’s Completely Safe?  Hmmn?
I see posts and various articles extolling all the virtues of CFL filled light bulbs. Good for the environment, saves energy, saves money, etc.
I believe all these are good reasons to switch to these types of bulbs. I know I have in my house.
However, if these puppies were COMPLETELY SAFE then warnings like this would be unnecessary …”The Environment Agency's latest advice focuses on the 6 to 8 milligrams of toxic mercury in each bulb.
Users who break a bulb should vacate the room for at least 15 minutes, the new guidelines say. The … (3 comments)

tucson buyers agent: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ROBERT ALLEN ZIMMERMAN - 05/24/11 10:10 AM

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. DYLAN
Today, May 24th, is the birthday of one Mr. Robert Allen Zimmerman, born this day in 1941, in the town of Duluth Minnesota. Mr. Zimmerman is more widely known to his many friends and fans as Bob Dylan.
That means Bob Dylan is just a few months older than myself, and explains why I think of myself as having “grown up” with Mr. Dylan. Bob’s first LP, the self-titled “Bob Dylan” came out in the fall of 1962. I bought that album.
Over the years I have made many subsequent purchases, LP’s, Cassettes, and CD’s. … (0 comments)
