daytona beach events: Cheerleaders on the Beach - 04/29/12 05:01 PM
Cheerleaders on the beach.  Where else can you see this?
In Daytona Beach cheerleaders come from all over for their competition. For a couple of days hotels are packed, young faces are everywhere. They hold them twice a year, and where is the best place to rehearse? Of course, on the beach. The girls saw me with an iPhone, got shy and stopped their acrobatics, and waited for me to pass.

daytona beach events: Fading Smell of Beer or When We Feel Young And Beautiful - 03/17/11 06:30 PM
The roar of bikes that firmly set in our ears after two weeks of Daytona Bikeweek is fading out with the leather-clad crowds leaving town. Vendors tents are going down, cash counted,  T-shirts packed and gone to another biker's event... Spring break has quietly sneaked in Daytona Beach. The sun acknowledges young bodies with not too much on them, and is shining brighter and it is warmer.
But nobody complains. Bikers needed to show off their leather and a little cool worked for them. Spring breakers need to show off young flesh, and the weather change is a welcome one. There is no … (28 comments)

daytona beach events: Wings & Waves Air Show in Daytona Beach - 10/10/10 01:54 PM
“A spectacle of smoking acrobatic planes and roaring jets brought a heart-pounding burst of excitement to Daytona Beach on Saturday” said Audrey Parente, a staff writer for News-Journal, a Daytona Beach local newspaper (Planes dazzle in skies over Daytona Beach).
I did not need to read the newspaper to know that the show was coming. Our office is in the oceanfront resort right where those planes were flying and two days before the show officially opened on Saturday, pilots were exercising, and you could hear the roar of engines of older planes, and the building was shaking when F-18 and F-22 … (14 comments)

daytona beach events: Turkey Rod Run - 11/30/08 02:20 PM
Beginnig of last week, your eye would catch more and more those old beautiful cars, that were able to survive time. They heralded the arrival of the biggest Car show in the nation, the Turkey Run
As everything in life, some cars became famous and sought for, and some didn't. Some are coming with the price tag that makes you scratch your head. But what is the most fascinating, is the love towards those old gorgeous cars, that allowed them to survive and fascinate us.
And what is the better place for that than Daytona's Turkey Run, - the event traditionally tied to … (6 comments)

daytona beach events: Biketoberfest... Gorgeous Bikes and Sexy Women - 10/19/08 08:00 PM
Biketoberfest is over today. Tomorrow the city will feel deserted and smaller groups of bikers, who stayed extra day or two, will remind us of this event.
I am always impressed by this show of the bikes, nikel and chrome, spotless and shining like a freshly mint quarter.
Hotels, emptied by the noisy crowd, will take a few days to clean and get ready for occasional visitor. This is a very strange time, the weather finally has mercy on us from the heat and humidity of Florida summers, the water is warm and inviting and... it is deserted.
I remember on the … (4 comments)

daytona beach events: Daytona Lost Another Rowdy Event. Good Bye BCR! - 04/06/08 03:49 PM
The most controversial event in a party city of Daytona Beach has practically died. The trickle, that is left is not viewed as an event any more, it does not scare people, create gridlocks and cause the city to hire additional police force from all over the State of Florida.
Black College Reunion (BCR) came as a very small group of people, like last year or maybe even less.
The city really struggled between political correctness, and was careful not to be sued, which was always in the air, and the tone of this the most rowdy event. I came to … (0 comments)
