buying: Interesting facts! Home Ownership and Lifestyle in Germany vs. America - 04/28/14 02:20 AM
Where I come from…. some interesting facts.
Like Americans, most Germans dream of living in their own house with a beautiful lawn and garden. Germans often find this dream more difficult to fulfill than Americans. A house in Germany, Austria, or Switzerland is a very expensive dream. The average cost of land and construction is double or triple that in the United States. A much larger down payment of between 30 and 50 percent is required, and you can see why most Germans live in apartments or condominiums. Only 42 percent of Germans own their own home, compared to 65 percent … (1 comments)

buying: Happy 1st Day of Spring! Let's go to the Park! BBQ's and family fun! - 03/20/14 01:22 AM
Happy 1st day of Spring! I love seeing all the flowers coming through, birds chirping and families getting out to enjoy the warmer weather.
Here are some local Woodbridge Parks to check out.

Leesylvania is my favorite park right on the banks of the Potomac River. People come to fish right of the pier, jet skiers and boaters as well. The park also has some historic look-out places. Lake Ridge Park has seasonal boat rentals, with a boat ramp. It also has Par 3, 9-hole golf course, driving range or 18-hole mini-golf course, with nearby concessions at the Clubhouse. … (4 comments)

buying: Should You Buy a Home During the Holidays? YES! - 12/01/13 12:49 AM
Let's take a look at some facts. Most people are busy during the holidays with festivities, family visits and shopping. That means the motivated buyer can benefit from lower prices and motivated sellers, most likely better mortgage rates, tax deductions and quick closings, and can look forward spending your summer months traveling and taking your family to the beach.   We understand that people think of spring and summer as the best time to buy a house. You want to get the children settled into new schools, however, summer time also means more sellers list their homes on the market. Therefore … (2 comments)

buying: Navy Yard client goes from Renting to Buying in a matter of days! - 10/10/13 12:01 AM
I had a "for rent" craigslist ad, and received an email from a person expressing their interest "rent with option to buy". At first I thought this was some kind of scam.
I asked to send me his phone number so we could have a little chat. I called him, and here is what happened.
It turned out, he works at the Navy Yard, very same building where the attack just took place. I was glad to hear he was safe.
My now new client was in a roommate situation and learned the house will be sold here over the … (2 comments)

buying: This is my very FIRST Blog. I am going to share my latest settlement with everyone - 08/14/11 01:42 PM
Rachel (not her real name) contacted me for the first time back in March 2010, just when
the $8000 tax credit was still the driving factor for First Time Home Buyers to come out and
buy their very first home.
Rachel and I emailed back and forth a few times, but she told me that she decided to wait. I emailed her back right away to find out what was stopping her. In my email I commented on the various loan programs available, the typical FHA , CDMP, and VHDA.

Rachel was actually referred to another … (10 comments)
