real estate: 2011 Google SEO Tips - 10/12/11 01:14 AM
Earlier this year, Google made some not so subtle changes to the way it ranks pages and calculates where you are going to be found on the first page.  Some of the basic, initial  reports back confirmed that Google was looking for Consistently Interesting, Unique and Relevant Content… and for the Real Estate Industry that meant that if you have been “getting by” on those sites where every page is already written for you… well you dropped a few pages in the Search.  “Canned” Websites are not known to be full of Unique Content written just for you.

real estate: Following Up On Internet Leads - 06/09/11 07:51 AM
It’s sad, but true that many internet leads that are generated through websites are lost, thought to be bad leads or simple thrown out. Why does this happen? I think there are two problems… first, a slick contact management system seems daunting for most of us.  But more importantly, I think agents get bored with following up with the same person, over and over again.
Research shows that when a consumer contacts you by email, they want an immediate response. NAR does expensive surveys each year that tell us the first agent to contact the customer has the best chance of … (29 comments)

Did you know that there are over 70,000 iPad and iPhone Apps available at the iTunes Store??  Wow! You can waste a TON of time looking through the catalog for the best ones to use!  Don’t get me wrong, we have iPads and iPhones at our house that talk to all of our other apple products – and it keeps everything running faster!  I can’t imagine life without them now!
I just think it might be fun to see which apps YOU find to be the most helpful! Here are some of my favorite apps (in no particular order):

real estate: Domain Names and Real Estate - 03/02/11 01:20 AM
Okay, we’re gonna talk about something that there’s a little controversy over… choosing your Real Estate Domain Name. Depending on which company you work for, the corporate advice you are getting could be to go out and purchase your NAME as your URL.   If this is how you are initially building your brand - I guess this makes sense.
I encourage Real Estate agents to pick a Domain name that is GEO Specific.  So if you are in Central Texas, Texas Home Central might make sense.  The goal with any site is to build your brand, while also targeting the … (12 comments)

real estate: 6 Real Estate Link Building Ideas - 02/09/11 01:58 AM
Most people know that one of the things that will help you rank higher in the Searches, is to have links pointing to you. Since most of the “Guru’s” are pretty specific about the fact that link farms and paid submissions (except for a very few) are NOT helpful… what can you do TODAY to build a few good quality links to your website or content?
Here are 6 of my Favorite Tips! 1.   Complete your profile and include a link to “content” (not just the website URL) in the Profile Section. Great places to do that would include:

real estate: The "Best" Real Estate Search For Your Buck - 02/07/11 02:01 AM
Last July Yahoo! Real Estate and Zillow announced a “partnership” that seemed like a pretty sweet deal for those in the Industry.
According to Hitwise -  a month after the announcement,  Yahoo! Real Estate beat Realtor.com in the battle for most website activity in August. This trend continued into September…
Yahoo Real Estate’s market share jumped to 6.95 percent from 5.87 percent in October. Realtor.com’s market share grew somewhat more slowly, to 6.28 percent from 5.99 percent in October.
Zillow uses Omniture statistics, and it announced in December that it received 13 million unique visitors in December… the December results … (4 comments)

real estate: Are You Advertising or Marketing in 2011? - 01/05/11 01:23 AM
In the Real Estate Business we are constantly looking for ways to get more attention for our listings, and to find buyers.  We have several choices, we can Advertise… or we can Market.
Advertising is out. Viral marketing, where someone else says how great you are, is in.
So what IS this “Viral Marketing” and why is “Advertising Out?” Advertising, by definition is the paid, public, non-personal announcement of a persuasive message by an identified sponsor to its existing and potential customers.  It’s the Old Fashioned Reader Ad, or Print Ad in the Newspaper… it’s not getting much attention now that … (3 comments)

real estate: Facebook Place Pages - Get Yours Now! - 12/15/10 01:43 AM
With the new Facebook Profile coming out – it’s more important than ever for folks to have all of their security settings correct, and that we maximize every opportunity on the site, including Facebook Places.
If you are using an iPhone, Android, or BlackBerry , (or iPad), to check your Facebook account you have the ability to “CHECK IN” to a location. When you check in to that location, you are automatically connected to what’s called a “Place Page” for that local business on Facebook (FB).
"Place Pages look similar to a Business (Fan) Page, with emphasis on an interactive map … (7 comments)

real estate: Old School Advice on Getting The Attention You Deserve - 12/03/10 04:00 AM
Many of us have “Old School” advice drilled into us from Real Estate Agents of “yesterday” who “ALWAYS” did something besides blogging and tweeting and updating to get business. Personally, it’s easy for my eyes to glaze over when that conversation starts. BUT, there’s some WISDOM in those “Old School” suggestions when it comes to writing Headlines for your posts and updates!
Here’s something you might not know… your news updates and Listings will appear in someones email (because it gets forwarded or they subscribe to it), in an RSS Feed Reader on someones phone or laptop, Social Bookmarking Sites, Social … (3 comments)

real estate: Steps For a Stress-free Move To Your Dallas Home - 01/04/10 11:20 AM
If you are moving to a Dallas home, you can, with prior planning and these tips, make your move a smooth, less stressful experience. After you have gathered recommendations from friends and checked out moving companies on the web, you should narrow your choices to three or four. At this point you can avoid moving mistakes by using these guidelines to make informed, intelligent choices.
1. Insist on an in-home survey and estimate. Movers have to actually see what needs to be moved and be aware of items requiring special attention, such as pianos or valued art pieces. In addition,, by meeting … (0 comments)

real estate: Choosing Best Neighborhood When Buying Dallas Real Estate - 09/08/09 03:47 AM
Sometimes people have to sacrifice purchasing their dream home for a less perfect home in a better location. The buyer and family's quality of life can be affected by their surroundings and features a neighborhood has to offer.  Choosing the best neighborhood is just as important as finding the perfect home.  Neighborhoods have numerous characteristics to consider when trying to make the right choice.
One of the most important things to look in to is the quality of schools in the area. Compare various public schools within a school system; some may be better than others. In order to keep all … (2 comments)

real estate: Housing Will Lead Us Out Of Downturn - 02/10/09 04:26 AM
January 2009 was a tough month for the economy. Massive layoffs from some of our largest corporations, an economy shrinking at a 3.8 percent rate, and the total number of mortgages in default rising to 9.96%, signs indicate the current recession will be longer and more severe than predicted.
Housing will help lead the country out of the downturn, Boston Federal Reserve Bank President Eric Rosengren told the Massachusetts Mortgage Bankers Association at its annual meeting. Rosengren said the housing market could stabilize this year, which he sees as a prerequisite for recovery.
"The recent reductions in mortgage rates, in part … (0 comments)
