Saturday the 3rd of May is a huge deal in Kanabec County.  There's lots to do, so get out there and have some fun!
City wide garage sale day is the 3rd.  The Advertiser has run a long spread of all the sales going on this weekend and a map to guide you to them.  There are some awesome looking sales out there, and some great stuff!  Baby items, pontoon boats, and the Potato Wagon is making an appearance, too!  There's also a large auction being performed by Les Stromberg of Stromberg Auctioneering at the Kanabec County Fairgrounds.  It will definitely … (0 comments)

kanabec county: Lock Your Doors, East Central Minnesota! - 04/14/08 04:00 PM
Most Minnesotans may have heard bits and pieces about the arson of a number of cabins in Pine County.  However, did you know that there have been related incidents in Kanabec and Aitkin Counties?
My weekend was quite interesting, starting with a phone call on Saturday morning.  One of my neighbors has two properties, and one of them had been robbed.  He called in complete disbelief, because nothing like this had ever happened to him before.
The next day, we were having Sunday dinner at my mom's when we discovered that another neighbor nearby had also been robbed.  They had been … (7 comments)

kanabec county: New Listing! Cabin Located Between Highway 65 and Hinckley! - 06/29/07 10:20 AM
5 acres, one cabin, and tons of wildlife!
This cabin built in 2003 has electric, wiring is in, and just needs finishing touches!  Roof and structure are fantastic, and practically new!  Follow a beautiful private road down to the end, and you'll fall in love!
Relax on the front porch, dine in the living area, or sleep in the loft - there is plenty of room for fun!  Lots of pheasants, deer, and other wildlife!  In fact, a bald eagle led my way down the private road just today!
Cabin is located close to Highway 65 or I -35, Grand Casino Hinckley, great fishing … (2 comments)

kanabec county: Buyer's Market? Not On Knife Lake! - 06/26/07 12:31 PM
I hear the news, and I know what everyone thinks.  I have heard that it's a horrible market, and there is no point in trying to sell your house right now.
So I'm using this blog to plea with a few of you, and point out to a few of you the truth in one part of Kanabec County.
For those of you who live on Knife Lake, it is a SELLERS MARKET.
Yep, you read that right!
For example:
Last week, on Monday, a property came on the market on Knife Lake.  It was priced at 229,900, bank owned, and needed a lot of … (0 comments)

kanabec county: Brook Park, Minnesota - 06/09/07 04:41 AM
Although I'm destined to not recieve some of my mail on time because they are addressed "Brooklyn Park" instead of "Brook Park", I love living where I do.  (The post office does a great job of getting my mail to me, anyway!)
As you can imagine, when I moved from Brooklyn Park to Brook Park, there was plenty of confusion while changing my mailing address.  It was also a nice change from the big city to rural Minnesota!
Brook Park, located on Highway 23 East of Mora and West of I-35.  Most of Brook Park sits in Pine County, but it also stretches … (1 comments)

kanabec county: Me? Me-Me'd??? Who Woulda Thunk It? - 06/02/07 06:52 AM
So I saw the e-mail this morning from Rick and Lynn Orze and I unknowingly opened it.  Okay, so it's not that bad, but now I have to come up with five interesting things about myself... which is hard to do.  My life is a little different than the average real estate agent's - mostly because I'm the "baby".  So here goes....
1.  I am engaged and trying to plan a wedding on top of farming, selling, and all other fun real estate activites.  His name is Nick, and I met him about five years ago.  We are kind of like that couple … (12 comments)

kanabec county: For Sale By Owner - One Thing To Remember During Your Open House - 05/31/07 05:07 AM
When I'm driving around and see an open house being held by the owner, I like to stop by for a few reasons.
I like to know my marketSeeing the home is great when trying to produce a market analysis for other homes in the areaI am knowledgable about the property if a buyer ever asks, or I can work with you if I come across a buyer in your price rangeThere are a few things I have noticed that I would like to bring to your attention when hosting your own open house.  These are just a few tips that … (0 comments)

kanabec county: Ideas for parade giveaways??? - 05/01/07 09:35 AM
So the sad news came in that this year, we are not allowed to throw candy during the Kanabec County Fair parade.  This was pretty depressing, considering last year was the first year I did it, and I thought it was a blast.  No candy.  Hmphf.
So then I decided to look at the bright side of things.  So we can't throw candy.  Surely there must be something I can hand out quickly, without explaning to everyone what it is, without running the risk of hurting anyone and promote myself and what I do.  Surely, there is SOMETHING I can do.
The first … (68 comments)
