California's Central Coast - Part 2 - Hearst Castle We recently took a trip to California's Central Coast for a couple of days. We were experiencing our first real heat wave here in the Central Valley and decided a trip to the much cooler coast would be a good idea. The day time temperatures were going to break 100° for several days in a row. It's not unusual for us to head over to the coast when that happens. Stanislaus County Day Trippin' - Monterey/Carmel One of the great things about living here in Stanislaus county in the Central Valley of California is the location. We are right in the middle of the northern part of the state. To the east are the Sierra Nevada Mountains and to the west is the Coast Range and the Pacific Ocean. It seems like the ocean is always calling us to make that quick trip "over the hill." Yesterday was one of those days. Stanislaus County Summer Heat and Your Pets According to the calendar it is now officially summer. Of course the last few days here in Stanislaus County all you had to do was step out side to know that. (Don't need no stinking calendars). We have had some pretty hot days of up to 103 or 104 degrees. High temperatures above 100 are pretty common here in the Central Valley of California during the summer. Stanislaus County Short Sales - No snow for you! Well the weather forecasters got it wrong this weekend. It was all over the news last week that the Central Valley of California might actually get some snow. The last time Stanislaus county got any significant snow was way back in the mid 70's. I remember that storm like it was yesterday. All the prognosticators were saying that the storm coming in from Canada starting on last Friday was going to bring cold temperatures, lots of moisture and a very good chance of snow down to about the 100' elevation.
