Just made the trip over Cottonwood Pass the weekend after Memorial Day to see what things look like. This photo was taken at around 11, 900 feet on the paved Chaffee County side of the Contenintal divide. The pass typically may still have a drift from the avalanche of the cornice at this time of the year. As you can see there is still about a 20 foot high cornise about to come down once the sun warms the hillside. Snowmobilers do not cross this pass in winter because of the avalanche danger.
