While there are many successful real estate agents who were able to start their careers using floor time to generate leads, does it make sense today given the advancements we've seen in technology?

Before choosing a realtor to list your home, ask him/her how they plan to market your home?  Marketing plans may vary, and a number of tools can be used effectively.  The more important point of this question is whether the agent has a game plan.  If he/she can't clearly commuicate how they're going to attract buyers, find an agent who can.  
Here are some things to consider:
Confidence:  If the prospective listing agent can't confidently communicate how they plan to market the seller's home, how can the seller feel confident about the agent?

Yesterday, I was one of many who posted about realtor, Gail Robinson.  Bank of America has taken steps to foreclose on Ms. Robinson's home even though she has filled out the paperwork to redo her loan.  
Anyway, Bank of America heard our voices over the social networks, and contacted Ms. Robinson directly.  Although there is no guarantee that Ms. Robinson will be able to avoid foreclosure, BOA did respond thanks to the power of social media.

If you were a new agent, would you prefer to work with a local broker offering a 70-30 split or a national franchise broker with lots of training programs offering a 50-50 split?
