Here in Carova, NC we work very hard to keep the Corolla Wild Horses living amongst us. They keep our communities unique & special. working to keep the horses protected & healthy, the county has set some specific rules. Of course people are NOT to feed them. Not only that but according to the Currituck Wild horse Ordinance, Chapter 3, Article II you are not supposed to come within 50 feet of them. Horses may bite or kick of they feel threatened, plus if a horse becomes too friendly with people, it may have to be removed from the beach entirely. wildlife: Oil Spill Clean-Up: Stories of Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation - 01/06/11 11:23 PM
 
The Outer Banks Center for Wildlife Education will be hosting two local biologists who assisted this summer with the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.  They will be sharing stories about the efforts and their experiences with rescue and rehabilitation of sea turtles and marine mammals affected by the oil spill.  Please join us Saturday February 5th at 11:30 AM at the Wildlife Center.  Seating will be limited so please make a reservation by calling 252.453.0221 ex. 1 or online at https://ncpaws.org/reservations/corolla/CalendarView.aspx .

wildlife: Carova property owners who can't sell may have other options - 12/10/10 01:48 AM
This is of special interest to land owners in the 4-wheel drive beaches of Carova, NC. If you are paying taxes and/or mortgage payments on property that is perhaps unbuildable, in protected wetlands, or for other reasons of little use or burdensome to you, you may be interested in placing your land in a conservation easement. The tax benefits of conservation easements are currently good and as you see below, might be increased, with your help. Please read the below section on conservtion easements.
