Here is the inspiration for the day. Have a great Monday.

active rain: This Tuesday's Zoom Call - 05/15/20 06:43 AM
For our call this week, go HERE.  We're going to have the pleasure of having Kathy Streib, home stager extraordinaire with us.
She's going to tell of some of the best ways to get homes sold faster.  What price ranges are best.  Colors to use and where to use decor and more.  Hey, that rhymes!  But, I digress.

Our format is going to be simple.  All of those on the call will talk with each other for about 15 minutes max, then Kathy will go into her presentation for about 30 minutes and that will leave her about 15 minutes for Q & … (16 comments)

active rain: May ActiveRain Challenge: Call #2 - 05/14/20 11:11 AM
For this week's past call, we were blessed to have Marte Cliff and her wisdom about what to do for your bio and how she can help you.

To see some of her excellent creativeness on doing someone's bio, go see Debe Maxwel's.

We had many on the call, including: Debe Maxwell, CRS  (of course, it's her call!), Elyse Berman, PA , Brian England , Kathy Streib and Lottie Kendall to name 5 of the many.

Marte Cliff went over many things including to make sure that you change and update your profile to be current (I'm guilty of that myself as many of you are!).  How, when you do your profile that you … (14 comments)

active rain: Virtual Reality is the New Real Estate? - 05/13/20 05:46 AM
With the trials and tribulations that are going on today and with Social Distancing in place, technology has taken over with more and more people being forced to "stay at home" and states that are slowly reopening.  What's happening to real estate?
The "New Norm" has changed people’s perception of the what's happening and has been bringing about an entire new climate for real estate today.
Virtual reality real estate, which can be somewhat characterized as a computer-simulated environment when someone is looking at a home is really taking hold right now. Since it's first introduction, it has helped out real estate agent's immensley during this time.

During these trying times, coming up with ideas to celebrate with a loved one, especially one that is not with you during this time is difficult.  What to do?  Now, I know that this post is a bit late and I hope that some of you had the forsight to do some of these things in advance, but if you didn't, I'm going to tell you what you can do now.
These are some of the things that you can do when you're at home with your loved one.

active rain: Happy Mother's Day - a History - 05/10/20 06:50 AM
Mother's Day was created to be a celebration honoring the mother of the family (that could be somebody's wife, Mother or sister who is a mother).
Anna Jarvis never was married and never had children of her own.  How did she become the founder of such a profound day?
Her own mother Mrs. Anna Marie Reeves Jarvis, in her childhood was the inspiration for Anna Jarvis.  Her mother was an avid activist and social worker.  This started her desire to honor not only her mother, but all mothers.
Anna, always being the loving daughter that she was,  honored her mother on her own when her … (8 comments)

active rain: Current mortgages during COVID-19 - 05/09/20 11:38 AM
Your typical good news and bad news story.  The current mortgage rates have hit the lowest that they have been since the early 1970's.  1971 to be exact.  That's the good news.  Usually, there's always some bad news that follows the good.  The bad news is that many buyers and refinancer's are finding it more difficult to get this rate on a loan.
Daily, there are more and more Americans that are getting let go or furloughed from their jobs, which means that they don't have an income at the current time.  Most (if not all) lenders don't want to make a … (4 comments)

active rain: Singing In The Rain, ActiveRain - 05/02/20 01:37 PM
I am so very be glad to be back and part of this wonderful community.  I really don't know why I ever left.  Actually, I do.  I had my head in the sand for awhile and thought that things would go away and have a way with getting right.
That ever really happens though.  I often have taught my kids that if you don't look at issues straight on and you treat it like an ostrich with your head buried in the sand, then someone is going to come up behind you and take advantage of you from behind.  Remember, by not making … (18 comments)

active rain: Stimulus Check, Really? - 05/01/20 06:07 AM
I have found a definition online that says that 'it's something that encourages an activity or a process to begin increase or develop.  Dictionary.com says that Stimulus is a noun and can be plural: that it’s something that incites to exertion or quickens action, feeling, thought, etc.: 'the approval of others is a potent stimulus'.  This is the sentence it gives to explain it.
Thesaurus.com says Stimulus as a synonym can be: catalyst, encouragement, fillip, impetus, incentive motivation, stimulant and stimulation.  These are the most relevant terms.
I find much of this very interesting because mine hasn't been received yet, but I am told … (14 comments)

active rain: No Big Deal, but, oh, the tears! - 12/09/13 09:20 PM
As many of you know, I'm in the business of unclaimed funds.  Specifically when a foreclosure or tax sale on a property has occurred.
This story is one of hope and perserverance that befits the holiday season.

Someone that works with me was contacted by an elderly, retired widow whose husban, a disabled veteran had passed on almost 7 years ago.  She was left with many bills left to be paid and her benefits from her husband had run out.  She also was not able to collect social security because she had not worked long enough to put in the … (8 comments)

active rain: Good things can happen in our business - 11/05/13 08:36 PM

The GOOD in what we can do: I believe that the way to success in this business (of Asset Recovery) is in helping others even when they don't believe what has been shared with them.  After all, we have all heard "if it's too good to be true, then it probably is".
In our case, it isn't.  We provide a very valuable service, which, in many cases, if it weren’t for us, money that is sorely needed (in most cases) by the Claimant (the one owed the money that doesn't even know it), would disappear into thin air, in … (4 comments)

active rain: Wow! 250,000 point Milestone - 04/02/12 01:28 AM
250,000 Points.  I’m letting that roll off of my tongue a few times.  It’s somewhat of a milestone for me, because it lets me know that I’ve stuck with something like Active Rain for so long as well as having made a commitment.

I look forward to getting up each day and writing my little success tidbit for the day.  I also try to write about other things that may be of interest and plan on much more in the way of my business of Unclaimed Funds.
This will include laws, regulations, thoughts and ideas on the business itself.

it has taken me some time to reach this level, however, in the past few months I have made a commitment to be very active.
Next milestone for me, 300,000 points!

active rain: Thursday Motivation: 5/7/2020: Focus - 08/30/11 12:40 AM
Good Thursday to you,
Focus seems to be the word lately.  Some say F.O.C.U.S. which means Follow One Course Until Successful.
Focus on your business. Focus on your family and yourself, the rest will come.
Focus.
Here is the inspiration for the day. Have a great Thursday

active rain: Friday Motivation: 5/8/2020: Due Diligence - 08/01/11 01:03 AM
Good Friday to you,

I found out yesterday how important due diligence  can be and how, no matter how much pressure is put on you, you have to stick to your guns on how you operate your business.
The one time that I succumbed to some pressure and didn't follow my normal routine for business, cost me $19,000.  Ouch!  Expensive lesson learned.

active rain: Is 150,000 points a milestone? - 06/08/11 12:59 AM
I'm not sure if reaching 150,000 points on Active Rain is a milestone or not, however, with this post, that's where I am at.
I find being on Active Rain beneficial and tends to lend additional credibility to what you do.  I have also been able to "meet" some great people that are on this site.
I have been using it to keep my name and company "out there" so that when someone looks me up, they are able to find me.
I am proud to have made this achievement and I look forward to many more milestones along the way.

active rain: Be thankful for what you have... - 08/23/09 12:05 PM

I wanted to write this and let you know (if you don't already) that life is fleeting and precious.
On July 5, early in the morning I was going to take my son to the airport so that he could visit family.  Aaron (12) was in the back seat  while waiting for other members of my family to come out of the house.  I was backed up straight out of the garage at the end of my house waiting for them.
After a while, we were going to be late, so I got out of the car to get them. … (5 comments)

active rain: Top 50 Appreciating Real Estate Markets - 06/22/09 10:09 AM
Hi,
I'm looking for some help in figuring out the top 50 real estate markets by county for appreciation from 2001-2007.  If anyone has any ideas on where to find this information, I would be greatly appreciated.
I'd like to find some kind of chart that tells the county that they were located in as well as the % that they went up.  I would also like it broken down by the year.
I'm not sure if anything exists that fall in those parameters,  however, anything helps.

active rain: Online syndication companies, who's perceived to be the best and why? - 02/04/09 01:16 PM
Hi Everyone,
There has been a lot of talk in the past about marketing property online through what is known as Syndicate Sites.  These are companies that allow you, the user, to create an online flyer once and put it out to many websites.
I'm looking for input as to who you feel is the best and why.  It could be from the ease of use for the creation of the flyer, the amount of sites it allows you to post to, the information fields on the flyer itself, etc.
Your input and comments are greatly appreciated as I am an … (0 comments)
