Honesty doesn't seem to be the best policy when present a school budget in PA, according to the CHESTER COUNTY PRESS. In an effort to honestly portray where they thought the budget might end up, Unionville school board members submitted numbers to the state fairly close to where they thought the 2010-2011 school budget might end up. The board then applied for exemptions to the Act 1 state limits-about $1.3 million for extra state-mandated exemptions to the Pennsylvania School Employees Retirement System (PSERS) and special education. Evidently state policy favors districts that wildly inflate their budget needs before presenting them … (0 comments)
