I was called recently by the listing agent of a home here in Hamden, Connecticut concerning a radon test result conducted in the home by another home inspector. The agent and his client were concerned the test may have been inaccurate because the home was vacant and had been close up for many weeks.
I informed them that this would not be a factor as the radon levels stabilize after a short period. I also pointed out that in the winter homes are closed up and we still test for radon.

The purpose of a home inspection is to inform the individual buyer of the current condition of the home. The purchase contract the buyer and seller signed is contingent on the home inspection. A buyer will generally have the option based upon the inspection to; opt out of the purchase, ask for repairs or credit towards repairs or a purchase price reduction.
It would seem that the importance of a good, thorough home inspection by a qualified inspector is obvious. Never the less many home buyers do not adequately research the profession before hiring an inspector. Most people simply ask the … (83 comments)
