chimney problems: Daddy, Why Can't Santa Come Down Our Chimney? - 08/17/10 02:51 AM
Daddy, Why Can't Santa Come Down our Chimney? I used to hear that question every December and have to explain that our wood stove was blocking the fireplace, but Santa would use the front door to deliver the presents. I know, the explanation is a bit lame, but it seem to satisfy my two girls.
Chimneys are a fixture on most of the houses here in Connecticut, all though most newer homes do not have the traditional brick and mortar chimneys. I'm certain that is because they are costly to build and need a good deal of maintenance. Pre fab fireplaces … (7 comments)

chimney problems: Have You Ever Felt Unsupported? - 03/16/10 10:13 AM
Support is so important in life. We are continually looking for some form of support or another. Moral support, support the cause, support or troops, etc. When it comes to homes and buildings home inspectors look for and at structural support.

chimney problems: What's That Bulging in The Middle? - 11/19/09 06:45 AM
No this is not about dieting. I myself have been on a see food diet for ever, I see food I eat it.

Whether expect or not there is nothing good about bulging near the base of a chimney. The swelling is indicating that the chimney structure is failing.
The mortar joints were soft and powdery and could be … (10 comments)
