north idaho: Is Fall the time to take your home off the market? I don't think so! - 09/26/08 04:45 AM
Autumn is here, and the foliage is turning.  Historically, home sale activity slows in the autumn months. That fact contributes to a substantial number of sellers taking their homes off the market. Savvy sellers recognize that this is the PERFECT time for them to list their house for sale.  It's all about supply and demand!  Less homes competing with you!  Realtors have long known that buyers out house hunting at this time of year are SERIOUS buyers, and READY to buy NOW!  Yes, there are fewer buyers out there, but make no mistake, buyers are buying homes 12 months a year. … (4 comments)

north idaho: a Pleasant Day Trip Along Coeur d'Alene Lake - 09/22/08 03:10 AM
I had an opportunity to cruise along Coeur d'Alene Lake towards Harrison and stop for lunch in the most pleasant lakeside setting at Hutton's General Store.  I enjoy noting the Coeur d'Alene Lake homes for sale as I go along, as well as taking in the world class scenery and frequent wildlife sightings.  There is no shortage of either - Coeur d'Alene homes for sale or wildlife sightings!  A pleasant cap to the day was a delicious lunch on a deck overlooking Squaw Bay with a backdrop of Tubbs Hill aross the lake on a day that illustrates the reasons we all … (2 comments)

north idaho: ACBS 7th Annual International Boat Show in Coeur d'Alene September 19-20 - 09/19/08 03:52 AM

Last night I got a sneak preview of this weekend's Boat Show.  On a perfect and glorious evening we wandered down to The Coeur d'Alene Resort for a Dockside dinner.  With a picture perfect sunset as the backdrop, we strolled the boardwalk and enjoyed looking at some of the 118 beautiful antique boats.  The event organizers did a wonderful job of ordering ideal weather, it's going to be a spectacular North Idaho weekend!
Come on down if you get a chance.  The Antique And Classic Boat Societies' 7th Annual International Boat Show is being held in Coeur d'Alene for the 2nd time.  Although … (1 comments)

north idaho: Oh FUDGE, It's Hunting Season in North Idaho! - 09/15/08 02:52 AM
My 14 year old is a city boy, our caboose child that we have uprooted and brought with us home to Coeur d'Alene.  Born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado where no one would be caught dead wearing anything camo.  His reaction to seeing so many people wearing so much camo at every function, camo cars, camo cell phones, camo this and that, has caused him to scratch his head in astonishment.  At a youth activity he was amazed that one of his leaders' cell phones rang, with a ring tone of an Elk bugle! The fellow ignored the call, which prompted his message … (5 comments)

north idaho: Another GLORIOUS DAY in North Idaho, another MOOSE sighting! - 09/14/08 02:29 PM
We took another leisurly drive around the lake this afternoon.  This time I remembered to bring my camera.  There, in the marsh by the road along the East side of Lake Coeur d'Alene near Mineral Ridge, was my moose!  I saw him there Thursday, without my camera.  Today, he was still there, and I was camera ready. What a sight!

north idaho: Yes, I had a great Labor Day weekend in North Idaho! - 09/03/08 02:29 PM
No time to post the photos I promised, but I had a very pleasant weekend with my guys, going where the road took me.  We drove around Hayden Lake (not Cd'A as planned) looking at homes (I can't help myself!) and the beautiful lake.  Not much boat traffic for a holiday weekend...  We had a horse drawn carriage ride; played some Boccie ball; walked the world's longest boardwalk at The Coeur d'Alene Resort; learned what a Gooey is and watched Derek devour a HUGE one; visited a pawn shop and found exactly what Rick was looking for at just $15; visited Sanders … (1 comments)

north idaho: Another GLORIOUS Labor Day weekend in North Idaho! - 08/30/08 06:25 AM
I am racing to finish up my chores so I can be free for the remainder of the weekend to be out and about in beautiful North Idaho with my hubby and son!  I think I will do something I have never done before - drive the circuitous route from Coeur d'Alene around the lake through Harrison and up the other side back home.  I love it when I can just cruise in my convertible with the top down, taking in the sights and sounds and going wherever the road leads me!  I'll take pictures as I go and post them for your … (1 comments)

north idaho: Who Says You Can't Go Home! - 08/26/08 01:37 AM
What a great place to call home!  My husband, Rick, and I have spent all of 2008 working on transitioning our home back to North Idaho from Fort Collins, Colorado.  The college town of Fort Collins, with it's wonderful quality of life, is always highly ranked in Money Magazine's Best Place to Live lists.  It was 1st in 2006 and is currently ranked 2nd.  We've been there happily raising our family for the past 16 years.  But, something about North Idaho, where I grew up happily running amok in, on and around the lake, has always been quietly calling to us.  We … (19 comments)
