arizona events: Sountrack of a Lifetime - 2021 - Grand Funk Railroad - 06/09/21 10:05 AM
Grand Funk Railroad is a hard rock band that originated in Flint Michigan. Despite the word “funk” in the band’s name, their sound was pure rock. With hit songs like “We’re An American Band” and the cover of the Little Eva song, “The Locomotion” they sold over 25 million records worldwide. At one-point Grand Funk was so popular they outsold the Beatles
One of their biggest hits was the 1975 single Bad Time written and sung by Marc Farner. The story goes that Farner was going through a nasty divorce when he supposedly met “the girl of his dreams.” He wrote the … (10 comments)

arizona events: Arizona is a Land of Contrasts - 04/18/21 01:57 PM
At last, I had the opportunity to travel this weekend, an activity that has escaped many of us this past year. The trip was a short one. But a welcome chance to visit somewhere different with an overnight stay in Flagstaff. It is only a two-hour drive from North Scottsdale to Flagstaff, Arizona, but it is a world away in character.
For those of you that think of Arizona only as a hot, dry, dusty desert you will be surprised to know that the State of Arizona is truly a place of environmental contrasts. While southern Arizona resides predominantly in the … (16 comments)

arizona events: Car Show Mania – Part Duex - 01/17/19 10:57 AM
Americans love cars and collecting rare and antique cars can be a fun and lucrative hobby. Every year Scottsdale, Arizona becomes a magnet for car collectors nationwide.
One of my favorite car auctions is the RM Sotheby’s auction held annually at the Arizona Biltmore hotel. One of the reasons I enjoy this particular event is that the focus seems to favor true antique cars like Bentley, Roll Royce, Pierce Arrow, and Packard. There are more than a dozen old Cabriolet styled cars.

Here is a stunning example of a 1930 Cadillac V-16 Phaeton.

The show also features many rare Ferrari, Lotus and Porsche … (5 comments)
