Spring Baseball is back in the Valley of the Sun. Like so many things that were interrupted in 2020, spring baseball has returned for 2021. While this year’s schedule will be shortened slightly to 29 days and all ballparks will be operating at limited attendance and following strict COVID-19 protocols, much of the fun has returned. Baseball fans will still get a chance to enjoy the sunshine and watch their favorite stars and new prospects prepare for the 2021 major league season. Laugh if you will, but I am a believer. Call it fantasy, hocus pocus, or superstition. There is a story, perhaps a wives’ tale, that if you bury a statue of St. Joseph on the grounds of a home that is for sale that the home will sell faster. As a young boy, I was taught that St. Joseph was a carpenter. I do not think he ever sold real estate, so I am not sure where the belief that he is the patron saint of real estate agents originated. Realtors® always seem to have a lot of great stories about the crazy things they have encountered while showing properties. Stories run the gamut from squatters, to attack dogs, to naked occupants. You just never know what you will encounter. I remember one instance when I was showing some vacant parcels in a rural neighborhood that was just starting to develop with new custom homes being built all about the area.
