(BETHESDA REAL ESTATE) I just picked up the Montgomery County edition of the Gazette and read that if you have appealed your real estate taxes and wonder why you've heard nothing back it's because there is literally no one home! The three member board has exactly zero members currently and a backlog of cases to get through - looks like about 1200 of them. Unbelievable. Even more unbelievable is that one of the members died several years ago and an alternate was never chosen so when the two current members resigned no one was left to do the work. It's frustrating to try and get someone to listen who is closed down to what you are saying. And selling a home in Bethesda can make the smartest of sellers sometimes just shut down to what they don't want to hear. I know we all think our home is really better than the last sale and we "want ours." Everyone else got theirs so it's time for us to get ours! (BETHESDA REAL ESTATE) Or in other words, a typical real estate transaction in Bethesda! That's actually how I describe my job when someone asks me what it's like: one series of problems to solve after another. Some larger and more complex like negotiated home inspection items that were a surprise to all and some small like the buyer wants the white Pottery Barn cabinet in the bathroom.
