Yesterday I checked the health department site and there were not clinics scheduled. This evening I checked, and low and behold, they have three set for this coming Saturday, December 5th. Not a lot of warning. So if you have some people you know in the priority groups you may want to let them know.   To see who the clinics are for, where they will be held, the times that they will be offered, and contact information, click on the following link: Get Pasco Swine Flu Clinic Information   I wish they would give us more warning, but I understand … (0 comments)

2009: Sheriff of Pasco County, Florida Asks for Food Donations for Needy Area Families - 11/26/09 08:46 AM
The Pasco County Sheriff's Office in Florida is asking for food donations that will be distributed to needy familes this holiday season. I think we can agree that the past few years haven't been "so hot" for everyone. But for some that is just a minor annoyance, and for others it means a great deal more. Most of us will have Christmas dinners and abundant food on our tables. However, there are still families in this country and our county who will have very, very little. Sad, but true. I saw it all the time when I worked as a teacher in one … (2 comments)

2009: Looks Like Florida Will Make It Through the 2009 Hurricane Season With No Major Storms - 11/15/09 04:03 AM
Looks like we will likely make it through the 2009 hurricane season with nary a storm of any kind making landfall in the Sunshine State. Of course, that still does not stop the major insurance carriers from crying poverty. Thank goodness the little companies are picking up the slack. Personally, I hope these smaller firms make a bundle for assuming the risk the "big boys" were too afraid to take.
At this point it would be very unusual for a storm to start up. The waters in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico are getting too cool to power-up … (4 comments)

I just went to my mailbox, and guess what I found? My property tax bill from Pasco County, Florida. Now, this is no big surprise since I received a notice a couple of months ago that it would be arriving and what my taxes would be if the new budget was passed. I even wrote a post on it. That was called my TRIM notice which stands for Truth in Millage. It is a way that the public can see what the county government is proposing and can then attend hearings to express their views. Everyone in Florida who owns real … (1 comments)

Now just a little over a month left before the 2009 hurricane season will end, and we have yet to see any sign of even a strong tropical storm. The Atlantic Ocean just seems to stay pretty calm with none of the low pressure areas gaining any strength. This year's season will officially end on November 30th. Here's hoping that we make it through unscathed. If you click on the image to the left a larger version should open up in a new window for you.

2009: Still No Hurricanes for 2009 on the Horizon - Let's Hope the Season Ends on a Quiet Note - 09/28/09 12:34 PM

Only two months left in the 2009 hurricane season, and the hottest weather is now mostly past. And yet, not signs of activity out in the Atlantic Ocean. This year's season will officially end on November 30th. Let's hope it stays that way. If you click on the image to the left a larger version should open up in a new window for you.
The more years we make it by without a hit the better for all of us. Less problems and perhaps more options for insurance as companies begin to return or start up here. That year a few years … (4 comments)

2009: Still No Hurricanes On the Horizon for Florida in 2009 - 09/22/09 07:29 AM
We are nearly 4 months into the 2009 hurricane season here, and so far we have had no problems at all. It has been a rainier summer than in the past, but that is good. Our aquifers are low, and the rain we have received is much appreciated.
Let us hope that we make it through this year with no major storms hitting our state. That could encourage more insurance companies to offer policies and could possibly lower rates. Who knows? But no hurricanes is a very, very good thing.

2009: Florida's 2009 Proposed Property Tax Notices Are Arriving Now! Keep an Eye Out for Yours! - 08/19/09 09:27 AM
I opened my mailbox this afternoon and found a letter from Mike Wells, the Pasco County Property Appraiser where I live telling me what my proposed property taxes for 2009 would be. Probably most of Florida's residents are also receiving these notices, also called Truth in Millage notices (TRIM). It is worth your while to closely examine the one that pertains to the property(s) that you own.
The notice will show you 3 main things:
What your property taxes were last year. What they will be this year if proposed budget changes are made. What they will be if proposed budget … (0 comments)
