Today, 9/6/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.55%, down from last week when it was 3.59%. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 2.86%, unchanged from 2.86% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.12%.
This week, there was very little change in average mortgage interest rates. From what I have heard on the network news shows, tomorrow positive employment figures are supposed to come out. Today, 8/30/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.59%, down from last week when it was 3.66%. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 2.86%, down from 2.89% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.22%.

As of today, 8/26/2012, Tropical Storm Isaac is just over Key West and the Florida keys and its projected path has shifted more to the northwest and appears to be heading for the New Orleans area of the northern Gulf of Mexico. They certainly don't need to be hit with a major storm, but of course, here in Zephyrhills and the Tampa Bay area of Florida, we will be very happy to see this storm pass us by.

CENTURY 21 corporate has just released their rankings for July 2012, and I am in the TOP 100 CENTURY 21 agents for the the North and Central regions of the state of Florida. We are still not out of the woods concerning the housing slump and to be in the TOP 100 is a tribute to my hard work. At least that is what my clients tell me. Having a good presence on the internet with many sites and also videos of my homes does not hurt either.

Today, 8/9/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.59%, up from last week when it was 3.55%. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 2.84%, up from 2.83% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.32%. Two weeks ago I asked if we had finally reached a "bottom". Now we have had two weeks in a row of increases! The rates could not keep going down forever and perhaps we have found the low point finally. Today, 7/19/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interesy rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.53%, down from last week when it was 3.56%. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 2.83%, down from 2.86% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.52%. Two weeks ago I asked if we had finally reached a "bottom". Apparently not. I hope many of you are able to get these new rates when buying a new home or can do the same on a refinancing deal for your current home.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – May 9, 2012 – The Florida Department of Health (DOH) unveiled a new website designed to help Floridians and local governments understand new septic tank requirements outlined in House Bill 1263, which the Florida Legislature passed earlier this year. We certainly had a better year in 2011 than we had had since the start of the recession. Many retirees looking for vacation or retirements homes, and many local buyers who wanted to take advantage of the low prices and VERY low mortgage interest rates. As a consequence, my sales improved. Not to the levels we had back in the mid 2000's, but we are getting there. And we are hearing more and more good news about our economy and that bodes well for 2012!

Yesterday, 3/1/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.90%, down from 3.95% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.17%, down from 3.19% from last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.87%! Take advantage of these rates if you can! Nothing lasts forever, even though it may seem like they will.

Today, 2/23/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.95%, up from 3.87% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.19%, up from 3.16% from last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.95%! At some point interest rates had to start rising again, and this week they did! Not significantly, but buyers should take note and watch further movements VERY carefully.
