Another week with little change. But that is sure better than having the rates skyrocket, isn't it? As long as rates remain low, buyers can more easily get the properties they want and sellers can better sell their homes for a fair price. Win-win!
The problem many areas are seeing is … (0 comments)

Hard to believe, but for a fourth straight week interest rates for home loans have increased. They are still well below the 4% mark, but each jump brings them a little closer. If you think that rates have hit their lowest point, you may want to start looking for that home to buy … (0 comments)

There was little worry about inflation this week and this fosterd the lack of any significant change in mortgage interest rates. According to Freddie Mac the "core producer price index" only went up 0.2% and the "core consumer price index" only went up 0.3%. Both well within expectations. Though interest rates did not move much, they are still very low, historically speaking. So it remains a good time to buy as we enter the summer season. The National Association of REALTORS has reported that across the country the sales of existing homes is up again, and the … (0 comments)

Positive news about employment numbers spurred the yields to go higher for bonds and this in turn pushed up the interest rates on mortgages. The economy "added" 162,000 jobs which was the largest gain in 3 years. … (0 comments)

Since interest rates on fixed-rate loans are still historically low, many people are taking the opportunity to refinance their homes and lower their payments. Over the past 3 months or so, over 75% of the applications for new loans were for refinancing purposes. So at least someone is making use … (0 comments)

Even though the rates went up this week, they are still way below what they were at their peak in May of 2000 when they sat at 8.6%. So we cannot cry too much. The question is, will you move now or gamble on the rates going down again? … (0 comments)
