We have seen little change in the rates people pay. They have been pretty stable for several months. And the low levels help make homes more affordable for more people.

Rates seem to be hovering around the same spot for the past few weeks. Still very low and they make homes more affordable for those who qualify with their credit histories. But as almost always happens, as the market continues to recover, so do prices.

The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.27%, down from 4.29% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.93%. At least the rates did not go further upward. Last week's jump was big enough.
