projected path: Projected Path of Dorian Still East of Florida with no Landfall Here - 09/01/19 10:00 AM

As of 8 AM today, 9/1/2019, Hurricane Dorian's projected path continues to be off the east coast of Florida by quite a few miles. The experts now say that it will likely stay out to sea in the Atlantic as it moves more north and northeasterly on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week. Dozens of different projections say this. If you look at the "cone" you will notice that most of western Florida, including Zephyrhills, Pasco County and Tampa are no longer included. That should give us a modicum of relief. Those things could change, the experts say it is … (2 comments)

projected path: Tropical Storm Karen Projected to Miss Most of the State of Florida! - 10/04/13 07:01 AM
As of today, 10/4/2013, Tropical Storm Karen is out in the Gulf of Mexico. The projected path has it coming ashore somewhere from Louisiana to the Florida panhandle. Well to the north of Zephyrhills and most of Florida. If you look at the path of of the storm on the map to the left you will note an "S" over its path in some places. S = Tropical Storm. Mostly a lot of rain and some windy hours.  For those of us in the Zephyrhills area it appears that we have again "dodged a bullet". It has been a long time since we have a storm of any consequence do much damage here. Let's … (1 comments)

projected path: Hurricane Irene's Path Slips Slightly to the East, But is Predicted to Strengthen as it Passes Florida - 08/22/11 01:36 PM
As of today, 8/22/2011, Hurricane Irene is passing over Dominica, and it has strengthened. The new projected path has it skidding along the eastern coast of Florida and then moving on up toward Georgia and South Carolina. If you compare the map to the left to the one I posted on Saturday, you will see how the projected path has shifted slightly to the east. For those of us in the Zephyrhills area that might be a good thing since the storm will lose strength as it goes over land and now it might just give us more of a "glancing blow". Perhaps more rain … (3 comments)

projected path: Tropical Storm Danny Expected to Stay Off the East Coast of Florida - 08/27/09 10:00 AM
On August 27th the projected path of Tropical Storm Danny is going to stay to the east of Florida and go up the coast of the United States. At least that is what the National Hurricane Center's cone shows. We could use some nice soaking rains, and, in fact, one is falling even as I type this. But I think that is just one of our typical summer storms and has nothing to do with Danny.  If you click on the image to the left a larger version should open up in a new window for you.
However, do keep in mind that these storms … (2 comments)

projected path: Hurricane Ike Passes Over Length of Cuba - Projected to Miss Florida Mainland - 09/08/08 07:19 AM
Hurricane Ike is now over the central part of Cuba and seems to be moving right up the length of the island. I heard a news reporter today say that since it will be spending more time over land that this would weaken it more before it leaves the western end of the island.
Bad news is that then it will be over the VERY warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico by Wednesday and Thursday mornings of this week and will likely strengthen again. The projected 5 day path has it moving away from Florida and towards Texas. Sadly, Louisiana … (0 comments)

projected path: Hurricane Ike Draws Nearer to Florida - 09/06/08 03:57 AM
Tropical Storm Hanna in now way up the east coast dropping rain. However, Hurricane Ike is over the Bahamas and looks like it will run the entire length of Cuba if the projected path is correct. After that it looks like it will be headed out into the Gulf of Mexico and could be making a move towards, of all places, New Orleans! You can click on the image to the left to see the projected path of Hurricane Ike, as of noon Saturday, September 6th.
The outer edges of the cone of the 5 day projected path show that there … (1 comments)

projected path: Hurricane Ike Approaches Florida while TS Hanna Moves Away to North - 09/05/08 02:53 PM
Tropical Storm Hanna is now leaving our area and heading for the Carolinas. No one is wishing them any bad luck, but here in Florida we are glad that it seems we will be passed by again. But still, you never know when these weather systems can intensify and change directions.
However, Hurricane Ike is heading for the Florida Keys according to the five-day forecast. This is the one that has most of Florida concerned at the moment. The weather experts cannot seem to say if it will head up the east coast or go over the Keys and into … (2 comments)

projected path: Tropical Storm Hanna's Projected Path Moves More to the East of Florida - 09/03/08 08:15 AM
Tropical Storm Hanna's projected path has moved more to the east and at this time appears to not touch Florida at all. As it looks now it appears that it will make landfall somewhere in the Carolinas. No one is wishing them any bad luck, but here in Florida we are glad that it seems we will be passed by again. But still, you never know when these weather systems can intensify and change directions. You can click on the image to the left to see the projected path of Tropical Storm Hanna, as of Wednesday, September 3rd.

projected path: Tropical Storm Gustav Passing Over Western Cuba and Heading Into the Gulf of Mexico - 08/27/08 11:00 AM
Tropical Storm Gustav is now a bit to the south of Cuba, and it appears that it will pass over the western section of that island. 5 day projections show it heading into the middle of the Gulf of Mexico and then, unfortunately, on towards New Orleans, Louisiana. As if they need more problems. Today, Thursday, August 28, it appears the path of the storm has moved more to the west and now appears to avoid the State of Florida. You can click on the image to the left to see the projected path, as of Thursday, August 28th.
Of course, … (3 comments)
