This is the track of Tropical Storm Hermine as it approaches Florida's gulf coast on Thursday afternoon on September 1, 2016. It appears that it may turn into a hurricane briefly before hitting land. Then it changes back to a tropical storm. With those we are not worried so much about high winds (unless you live on the coast) but with the heavy rain which can cause flooding.

Today, 10/29/2015, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgage was 3.76% down from 3.79% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 2.98%, unchanged from last week. A year ago the average rate for a 30 year fixed-rate loan was 3.98%.
A Freddie Mac spokesperson stated:
"Treasury yields oscillated without a clear direction heading into the October FOMC meeting, as investors were confident there would be no rate increase. Today, 5/7/2015, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgage was 3.80% up from 3.68% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.02%, up from 2.94% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.21%.
Freddie Mac's spokesperson said, "Mortgage rates rose this week to the highest level since the week of March 12 as a selloff in German bunds helped drive U.S. Treasury yields above 2.2 percent. I have been informed that the Patriot Flea Market just south of Zephyrhills, Florida will no longer be open after April 14th and is taking a break for the 2015 summer. That makes sense since so many of our residents have returned to their northern homes and the weather here is really heating up. Perhaps a little too hot to be wandering around under our intense summer sun here in Forida. They will re-open in the November of 2015 I will try to let you know when it is once again operating.

real estate agents: Mortgage Interest Rates Drop to Lowest Level Since May 2013

Today, 12/4//2014, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgage was 3.89% down from 3.97% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.10%,down from 3.17% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.46%.
The rate of 3.89% is the lowest it has been since May of 2013! Are you going to take advantage of this situation and buy a home? Don't wait until rates go back above the 4% point and beyond!

Today, 11/26//2014, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgage was 3.97% down from 3.99% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.17%, unchanged from last week.
Perhaps due to the holiday tomorrow, Freddie Mac did not release any remarks by their spokesperson this week. At least not by the time I wrote this post at 7:30 PM on the night before Thanksgiving. So there are no comments to give you this week.

Today, 2/23/2012, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.95%, up from 3.87% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.19%, up from 3.16% from last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.95%! At some point interest rates had to start rising again, and this week they did! Not significantly, but buyers should take note and watch further movements VERY carefully. Today, 12/29/2011, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.95%, up from 3.91% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.24%, up from 3.21% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.86%!
Though interest rates did increase this week, they are still below 4% and that makes homeownership much more within the grasp of many home buyers. Imagine locking in that low rate for the next 30 years! I am betting that in just a few years we will look back at these rates and shake our heads … (0 comments)

This annual event in Dade City, Florida is always a crowd pleaser. Most of the residents of brick-paved Church Street decorate their homes and lawns for the holiday season. You will see enchanting houses, lots of luminaries, carolers and choral groups singing, and even hot chocolate. The weather is pleasantly cool in December here and the stroll will be very enjoyable.
Each evening from the 21st to the 23rd the stroll down Church Street will begin at 6:00 PM and end at 9:00 PM.
Come out with your family and enjoy this once-a-year celebration in Dade City!

Today, 11/10/2011, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.99%, down from 4.00% last week. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.30%, down from last 3.31% week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.17%. Nice to be below the 4% point once again. Hope some of you can take advantage of the low rates we have this week.
