realtor: Average Mortgage Interest Rates Creep Just a Tad Lower This Week

Yesterday, 5/26/2011, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.60%, down from 4.61% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.78%, down from 3.80% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.84%.
For the 6th week in a row mortgage rates dropped a bit due to reports of slower than expected economic activity. The Index of Leading Indicators fell 0.3% in April and that was the first decline since June of 2010.

Our parent company, CENTURY 21, has just released the rankings for around the country. In the North and Central Florida zone, based on the number of sales, John Elwell ranked in the Top 50 agents on the list for the first 4 months of 2011!
I must be doing something right to have had so many customers. There are thousands of CENTURY 21 agents in our zone, and I do take some pride in being in the Top 100 fairly regularly. And to make it into the Top 50 makes me even happier.

realtor: Average Mortgage Rates Return to the Lowest Level of 2011: Freddie Mac

Today, 5/5/2011, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.71%, down from 4.78% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.89%, down from 3.97% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 5.00%.
This week mortgage interest rates floated downward due to reduced yields for Treasury bond yields. This was caused by poorer ecomonic reports and the Treasury reacted by dropping what it is willing to pay to investors. In April, a slower growth rate was also observed in both the service and manufacturing sectors.

It's nice to have one's accomplishments acknowledged by the national headquarters. Last year was much better than 2009. And 2011 is off to a great start! At this point, after just 3 months, I am ranked in the top 24 of the thousands of CENTURY 21 agents in north and central Florida for my number of sales. And I'm in the top 100 for total commissions earned. I certainly hope that continues.

realtor: Freddie Mac Reports that Average Mortgage Interest Rates Has Small Increase this Week

Today, 3/31/2011, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.86%, up from 4.81% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.09%, up from 4.04% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 5.08%.
Interest rates remain low, historically speaking. However, they did rise a bit more this past week, according to Freddie Mac's weekly survey. Inflation news was tepid and caused no worries this week. Even though rates did rise this week, they are still at historically low levels that make a home purchase more affordable for a lot of people. Today, 3/17/2011, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.76% (4.74% in the southeast), down from 4.88% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 3.97%, down from 4.15% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.96%. The 15 year fixed-rate interest is the lowest since December 2010.
Hard to believe it, but because of the terrible disaster in Japan, people here rushed to buy US Treasury Bonds. This caused their yields to drop, which made loan interest rates fall, and of course, mortgage rates played "follow-the-leader". In our … (0 comments)

Daylight Saving Time 2011 begins this Sunday. So just a quick reminder that you need to set your clocks ahead one hour when you go to bed on Saturday the 12th so that when you wake up on Sunday the 13th you will be in synch with the rest of the United States. Forget to do it, and you will be out-of-step for the day!

Today, 3/10/11, Freddie Mac reported that the average mortgage interest rate for 30 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.88% (4.85% in the southeast), up from 4.87% a week ago. The average interest rate for 15 year fixed-rate mortgages was 4.15%, unchanged from 4.15% last week. A year ago the 30 year rate was 4.95%. Not much movement at all and very little effect on monthly payments.
