homebuyers: H. R. 5028 - 09/23/10 04:41 AM
Saw this mentioned on Facebook this morning, went and checked it out.
The blog entry is here. The text of the bill is here.

If you’re looking for how the housing market double-dip will be created, here’s the answer. Never mind the endless taxpayer-backed money-pits of FHA, Fannie and Freddie: Here comes a proposal to grant defaulting homeowners the “right” to rent their homes for five years.

It’s called H.R. 5028 and it’s no joke. The "Right to Rent" bill drafted before Congress meets with the approval of the Center of Economic Policy and Research, a think-tank … (3 comments)

Home Sales Data, May 1-31, 2010 Sumter and surrounding areas, SC
After a long hiatus - and giving up my real estate license - I'm back posting market reports.  Can't promise I'll keep up with it, but the information is useful to somebody, I hope.  I've missed February, March and April, and I could go back and catch up with them, too -- but seriously, I'd rather have dental surgery without benefit of anaesthetic. Kim Peasley-Parker's blog,  http://activerain.com/blogs/kpeasley , has that info, I don't doubt, and probably in a much more pleasing format.
So.
This information was for residences only; I did not include … (0 comments)

homebuyers: Good News for Developers, Some Builders and Subcontractors -- For the Rest of Us, Not So Much - 01/20/10 10:37 AM
This article was in the local paper a few days ago.  I filed it in the back of my head for future blogging purposes, and now is as good a time as any.
Third Army Headquarters/ARCENT is coming to Shaw Air Force Base. We've known this for a few years now. Lots of cheerful speculation has occurred on how this is going to re-energize our housing market. Well, it won't. The plan is to build in excess of 600 homes in the area; the location hasn't been determined yet. It would be nice if it were a boon for local builders, … (4 comments)

homebuyers: Oh, No: "Actually, Case-Shiller Shows That The Housing Crash Has Already Resumed" - 10/30/09 03:12 AM
Found by way of Instapundit .
In this area, there is no recovery underway.  People take the smallest piece of good (or even not terrible) news and start crowing about how the worst is over, the recovery has begun, happy days are here again.... Without sufficient data, and that takes awhile to collect (and has to be done over a significant period of time, not just a day or a week or a month or even a quarter), we won't know when the recovery is beginning.  Not at that time.  It will only become clear much later.  It's just like finding … (0 comments)

homebuyers: You Never Know Where That Next Client Is Going to Come From - 10/12/09 02:23 AM
It's obvious, I know, and I'm not only not the first person to say it, I'm probably not even the millionth.
A few years ago some people my husband and I knew from our days being stationed in Germany (in the 80s) moved to Columbia.  We were very excited and exchanged e-mails, saying we would get together and catch up.
Well, we're all busy, and before we knew it time had passed.  And more time passed.
And then one day a couple weeks ago the wife sent me a note on Facebook that said they were planning to move away.
Move away?!  … (5 comments)
