winter: It It May Be Cold But We Have Blooms Here in The Carolinas! - 12/06/14 08:08 AM

Today I was pleasantly surprised to see that this one Camellia bush is loaded with buds and it is covered with this pretty single flower with a pale yellow center.

This is one of the many reasons that I so enjoy the Carolinas.  There always seems to be something in bloom ... no matter the season.

winter: Surprise ... Surprise ... First Snow of The Season in Charlotte, NC - 11/12/13 08:45 AM
Surprise ... Surprise ... First Snow of The Season in Charlotte, NC

I just came in from outside with our dogs and we received a big surprise.  It is snowing and the wind is really blowing.  It looks like winter to me.

The other day I went to Lowe's and purchased a snow shovel and three bags of sand.  Everyone was laughing and making fun of me.  I may be thankful that I have that shovel and some sand.
Seeing this snow this evening really puts me in the Christmas spirit.

BABY it is COLD Outside in Charlotte, NC

This morning I was up early and went to take the dogs out for a run and was welcomed by frost everywhere.  The sun was just coming up and it was cold.

As you can see my one garden has Easter lilies up out of the ground as well as some Iris.  They all looked quite cool this morning.

It is mornings like these that I look forward to spring and some warm breezes.

winter: First Heavy Frost of The Season in Charlotte, NC - 11/12/11 10:58 AM
This morning it was white with frost.  In fact I did a double take when I looked out the window.  It was still dark, but the ground was white.  I actually thought it had snowed.

In this picture you can see that the rose bushes still have roses in bloom.  I will be busy cutting back all of these gardens, so that they can rest for the winter.

The next big rain will take off the leaves and trees will be bare.

No matter what season, it is always beautiful in Charlotte, NC.
