This relatively new type of flooring has taken the market by storm! In new construction, first time home buyer homes up into the luxury dream home market. Everybody is familiar with this product, but there are a few facts that may not be known to all people. LVP is made primarily of PVC or Polyvinyl chloride. Like many other products, there are different qualities available. The lower end is not waterproof and will require a moisture barrier under it. Not so with the higher quality LVP's. This is an extremely popular flooring, especially in new construction and remodels. Many times, it's referred to as "LVP". There are many qualities available at different prices. The chief differences are the weight, the durability, the warranty and moisture resistance. The upper qualities are water proof and have warranties that can be 30 years to lifetime. They don't require glue, which is very expensive, and they don't require a moisture barrier on the slab that the lower end floors do, as they are not resistant to moisture. " I can buy my home with an unfinished bonus room or unfinished flooring and finish it myself later" If you are a professional tradesman, this may be true, but watch out! I ran into a couple who had purchased a home from a very good, reliable builder. It had an unfinished bonus room, which, they later hired someone to finish. The result was a very nice home downstairs, but the opposite in the the bonus room and the hall leading to it. The Sheetrock was improperly installed, so it bowed in places.
