staging: Interior Redesign in Bellevue, Washington - 05/01/08 01:24 PM
Bellevue, Washington - A Roomspinners Interior Re Design
Our client needed decorating and she needed it fast, so we met for lunch at The Ram in Kent, then drove on out to our favorite place for a "3 Hour Power Shop!" We were able to get a couple of custom pieces ordered for her as well as find some fabulous treasures at a "to the trade only" import store (and the Seattle Sifsters know what I am talking about!)
A couple weeks later, everything is delivered but the ottoman, and our client asks if we wouldn't mind picking it up on the … (5 comments)

staging: Let it Breathe - 04/30/08 03:15 AM
Puyallup, Wa
Because there are quite a few of us who like to gather "stuff"... I would like to talk about that today. It ends up being a problem when we try to fit it all into the limited square footage that we have. Too many items and improper placement can actually make people more tired, more irritable, and generally uneasy, yet they don't know why!
For a home buyer, it is even more pronounced when they walk into a space. How can they imagine themselves living there? Although some people can see to the "bones" of the home (the flippers and … (17 comments)

Watching this video might wear you out however, she doesn't hold back when she explains the time it takes to stage a home properly!

staging: True Portfolio Member Roster for Real Estate Photography - 04/04/08 02:37 AM
Real Estate Agents, Home Stagers and Hoome Sellers: Welcome to "True Portfolio"

Group members of True Portfolio hold high regard of their actual work, and pledge to only use photography of projects they actualy worked on when displaying marketing materials to the general public.
The True Portfolio concept arose after a number of professionals were victims of theft, in the sense that the photography they used to promote their business was "taken" by someone who tried to pass it off as their own work. another issue is the use of STOCK photography to depict a professionals work. Those pledging to … (65 comments)

staging: We Kept the Bedspread! "Use What You Have Staging" - 03/26/08 04:46 AM
(Maple Valley, WA)
Not every staging job has a hearty budget. However, much can be done with a very modest budget! As Interior Re-designers and Stagers, Barbi and I are used to using what the homeowner has to make a space more -- well, we like to say "designery" -- LOL! And although "designery" is certainly not a REAL word... it says what we want it to!
Before, the room does NOT look like a Master Bedroom... but believe-it-or-not-RIPLEY-style, we KEPT the BEDSPREAD!!!! (No we did not flip our lids... just the bedspread!)
Yes... it is the same bedspread... simply flipped!
Where did that standing … (19 comments)

staging: Condo Real Estate Staging - Des Moines, Washington - 02/28/08 03:22 PM
Des Moines, Washington
We just finished decorating the interior of this wonderful condominium that has views of Lake Washington, and I must say, I would love it for myself. We have been excited about this model home/staging project, as our Realtor mentioned it to us when we finished up her last project a few months ago, she let us know it was coming down the pipes so to speak.
Once I get a project in my head, I obsess about it until it is done to completion! I started noticing beautiful accessories that would be perfect, and earmarking things we had in … (12 comments)

staging: Empty that Garage...Storage Units for Staged Home Leftovers are a Must! - 02/12/08 12:55 PM
A Real Estate Stager covers a lot of ground in that first initial consultation with report. Besides, minor improvements and updates, and maybe some suggestions for some major ones, a Real estate Stager is going to give an honest assessment about how the home will show to the general public.
A stager tells it straight, even when they know the homeowner might be resistant to this advice, why? Because of the goal is the same as the home owners -- to SELL THAT HOUSE!
Sometimes a home can be staged to perfection -- only to have a garage crammed full of … (3 comments)

staging: Agent Staging Competition from Realtor Magazine (video link) - 12/16/07 04:52 AM
In  this Realtor Magazine article, published in July of 2007, three agents are given three different rooms in a "staging" competition. They must use what they have but are allowed an additional $250 for room embellishments. The three Real Estate Agents stage a living room, office, and bedroom.
And the winner is... (you will have to watch it to find out!)
The rooms are judged by two veteran stagers. Open the link to view the video, and link to videos of all the rooms that were staged in the showdown.

staging: Auburn, WA: Staging a Home for the Holiday Season: Real Estate in December - 12/13/07 03:56 PM
Auburn, WA (Real Estate Staging)
Every winter I hear a lot of questions and discussions about whether or not to stage a home with a seasonal theme during the winter months. I want to talk not only why you can, but why you should, and what steps to take towards brightening up the home during cold and drab winter months.
Without a staging, this completely vacant home was just a whole lot of pine, and although my staging team and I caught the vision of the homes potential the minute we walked through the door, many home buyers cannot. This home … (14 comments)

staging: Stage it Simply! Tacoma, WA - Vacant Home Bathroom Staging - 12/10/07 05:11 AM

Tacoma, Washington
A Bathroom in a vacant home is definitely easier to stage and keep looking great while the home is showing. In this bathroom we kept it very simple. We added crisp clean linens, sparkling apothecaries full of sundries, and river rock for a nature and texture. The bathroom maintains it's "hip" and modern industrial feel, yet is now inviting and feels even more functional.

staging: How Much do I charge? Let me Show You the Money! - 11/30/07 05:56 PM
I got caught up in thought the other day after I met a realtor at a local function who seemed interested in my services, so I asked if she would like my card and she immediately replied "how much do you charge?" I gave her a ballpark figure. Then she said, Oh, I have a stager that charges $X an hour, and she moved along.
Before I continue, let me say I am very pleased to work with a few realtors who do fully appreciate what I bring to their marketing plan for the home, they get it, and it is so rewarding when the sale comes in 30 days or less, … (17 comments)

staging: A Family Room for the Pacific Northwest. - 11/14/07 02:13 AM

 Covington, Washington
A popular design choice for a family room in the Pacific Northwest is a palette that reflects the natural beauty surrounding us, with rugged furnishings in the colors and elements of the great outdoors. In this room makeover, Interior Re Designers and real Estate Stagers, Julianna Hind, IRIS, and Barbi Ford, IRIS, provided a color fix -- color consultation bringing in a beautiful Eggplant color on the fireplace wall, replaceing a burgundy wine color.
BEFORE (to the left) the fireplace needs to remain the focal point in the room, so we used the large picture over the top of it.
