crimes against: Crimes against paint - 07/04/10 10:05 AM
I found the evidence of this particular crime while pre-viewing a 5,000 sq foot house in Windstone. Just goes to show you that money can't buy taste! And honestly, y'all, the picture doesn't do it justice, it looked far worse in person.
I just love the way the grotesque peachy-coral color really makes the putrescent green pop.

Those who live in NW Georgia might recognize this house. I find it to be in such horrifyingly bad taste that I've got to admire the person who picked out those colors, thereby giving the proverbial finger to anybody who might dare question his choices. This is a true individual, not someone who follows the herd in painting his house the nice neutral colors (boring!) that other mere mortals would approve of.
Paint on, crazy-colored-house person, paint on!

crimes against: Crimes against gravity - 10/20/09 02:58 AM
We've all seen the rotted-deck-fell-off-door-to-nowhere right?
Oh, you haven't?
Well, it's really not that uncommon unfortunately. What I have rarely seen is this particular crime against gravity.
The second-floor-door-to-nowhere-for-no-reason.

No, I have no idea what the big black chute is for. Disposing of the body?

crimes against: Crimes against windows - 10/14/09 09:32 AM
A re-enactment of the conversation that led to the photograph you are about to see (fictionalized).
Him: Hey Honeybear, I really want to reside the house but it's awful (sic) hard to cut around them (sic) windows.
Her: So?
Him: Well, I was thinkin'...what if we just cover up this here window? Won't nobody never know.
Her: Suits me just fine

crimes against: Crimes Against Doors - 10/10/09 10:07 PM
The previous owners of this house (YES, these are all from one house) have been convicted of 12 counts of crimes against doors.
Please to enjoy:

Now, I could be wrong, but I don't think any of those doors did anything to deserve that abuse. Of course, the floors probably didn't deserve to have three different kinds of laminate going two different directions (without meeting up anywhere) either. … (15 comments)

crimes against: Crimes against...gravity? sanity? - 09/20/09 12:44 AM

I'm not entirely sure what this one is a crime against but it's definitely wrong.
I was showing houses to a couple this week, very nice houses in fact. One of them had a carriage house of sorts with a garage on the basement level, a workshop area on the ground level and then an apartment on the upper level. Checked out the garage, smelled like gasoline but nothing unusual there, checked out the workshop, little crowded but nothing unusual there, checked out the apartment, kind of austere but nothing unusual.
Then Mr Buyer starts to go down the stairs … (5 comments)

crimes against: Crimes Against Paint - Faux Finishing Edition - 09/16/09 02:48 AM

I will admit (my family would tell you even if I didn't) that I have attempted the elusive faux finish before. I have also gone gung ho for the "red" paint job. A color that professionals painters fear to paint, and with good reason. I will also admit that half way through my red paint job attempt - that would be coat number 47 for those keeping count - I was tempted to leave it looking just like this one.
That's why these people are getting off with just a slap on the wrist even though this is … (7 comments)
